I actually eat them for the purpose of getting thirsty, when I have a favorite drink it tastes even better after a pretzel makes me thirsty. Especially when they have them at local bars, a good bear tastes amazing after a few pretzels

It's a common bar snack in Germany, probably because the salt causes you to drink more. But its also enjoyed in a full grown version, which tends to be less salty and tastes great with butter, available at most bakeries.
