So why do mappleniggers love poutine so much?

I just don't get it, the mere mixture of french fries, cheese and gravy can't be that good.

It's nowhere near as popular as you seem to think.

I've been to Canada twice on business trips since I heard about it. Both times I asked around where I could get some and the Canadians I was visiting had no idea what it was.

naw. there are more canadian and less canadian people in quebec, just like there are in any other province.

but if i had to choose a province that is most stereotypically canadian, it would have to be nova scotia or newfoundland. over-friendly, accent having, mostly rural, not too wealthy, kinda redneck/swampy, etc.

least canadian would be calgary or toronto. calgary is a very american town due to the influx of americans that moved to alberta to work in the oil business. it's basically an extension of montana, except without the freedoms.

Fairly overrated.

It's good, don't get me wrong, but it's not HOLY FUCK good.

I honestly think it should be served in every diner and fast food place across North America though. The U.S is the land of the fat (even if places like England are currently fatter), they should be able to have their gravy cheese fries just as often as they can have their chili cheese fries. Cheese curds are typically used, yes, but even many run-of-the-mill diners here in Canada just use regular cheese. Tastes the same, and the texture difference isn't really extreme.

I usually find poutine too salty though. I particularly like it when you get it at a dedicated poutine place (Smoke's Poutinery here in Winnipeg) where they add other stuff to make it into a meal. I always get the one that has the typical ingredients for poutine, and also chicken, mushrooms, grilled onions, and peas. Cuts the salt just enough to make it a big greasy meal. Fork required.

Lol you don't need to be fancy or anything, also that's not a real brand.

Just regular cheddar cheese curds. White or yellow, doesn't matter. If they make mozzarella cheese curds that mite b cool too. Any kind, any brand, as long as they're curds. The fresher the better.

If you like it, try throwing other shit in there too. Meat, vegetables, try other sauces, etc. It was originally made in little French-Canadian diners that happened to sell both fries and little bags of cheese curds as snacks. People started mixing them, then asking if the chefs could mix them. When they would complain about the cheese and fries getting cold too fast (eating the combo warm was part of the appeal during cold Canadian winters), a chef tried pouring gravy over the mixture to keep it hot, and it caught on from there.

Those little diners in Costcos are insane.

Drop $10 CAD and you're walking away FULL. It's just going to be garbage like hot dogs, soda, pizza, fries, poutine, and maybe frozen yogurt (god damn that triple berry sundae), but it tastes really fucking good for what it is, and you get HUGE portions for what you pay.
