Is bacon that bad of a meme? If so, how can one make and use bacon in a non meme faggot way?

Pic related it is meme meat.

Is there anything better to do than smoke it with sugar and salt?

Why would anyone allow concerns over a foods popularity to determine how or why they eat it? It seems like you're a little too concerned with food trends, which are good to about when choosing a restaurant, but not such a good thing to let fuck with your home cooking.

Like anything that gets called a "meme", it got there by being genuinely good in the first place.

It's good crumbled into pretty much anything, and does go shockingly well with alcohol.

Wrap it around stuff I guess?

Would you be into bacon made with "unusual" spice rubs like old bay seasoning or tequila lime marinade for example?

I agree that it goes well with a lot of stuff including drinks.

Anyone here smokes their own bacon? And anyone tried some unusual stuff with it like drying and cold smoking or anything else?

That seems like someone trying too hard to be creative. Bacon is already a gigantic flavor, so it doesn't need any extra flavoring. So I might try something like that out of curiosity, but I wouldn't seek it out, nor would I have high hopes for the result. And if you're talking a mass produced artificially produced product I'd avoid it entirely, because experience has shown me I tend not to like that stuff.

I would go out of my way (and happily pay extra) from bacon traditionally made in a smokehouse from pork raised on small traditional style farms. Again, because experience has shown me that I like that kind of bacon much better than the cryovac plastic wrapped shit in the supermarket, which I'd rather not eat at all if I can avoid it.
