I'm about to try and make a slow cooker stew. Do I need to sear the meat for a few seconds or just dump it in the cooker raw? Also does this stuff need to be exact or can I just toss in the ingredients? My cooker is very small.

You don't need to sear, but it will make a much better stew. You do not need to be exact.

Searing the meat first will make it taste a lot better.
It takes longer to sear than "just a few seconds".

And no, the recipe doesn't need to be exact.
