Hello, friends.
Which type of fish tastes the least "fishy"? Cod? I fried some tilapia fillets the other day and they turned out nice.

tilapia isn't fishy, but god it's muddy tasting sometimes.

i think whiting tastes pretty unfishy, as well as swai, but swai's off my menu due to ethical fishing concerns

>> No.7451279

If its fresh it wont smell fishy, it will smell like the sea.

lolwut, tilapia tastes like nothing but what you season it with/marinate it in

>> No.7451631

Try tilapia with just salt and pepper. It's muddy, but easy to hide with sauce.

I suggest sturgeon, if you can get your hands on some.

try flounder. Most fish is mild if it was "fishy" it was probably turning.

would you consider salmon "fishy"?

because it's so good man

so

Pretty much any common warm water fish. Think Gulf Coast seafood rather than yankee shit.
Colder water fish tend to be oilier and fishier.

Haddock or flounder. Basically any non-oily whitefish like fresh cod.

Tilapia can taste good or bad, depending on where it's shipped from. Every asian-based tilapia I've ever cooked had some sort of dirt/mud aftertaste which was really off putting.

One of my favorites is catfish, however OP you shouldn't be an obnoxious faggot what you need to learn to do is to use flavors the mask and compliment the flavors that are inherent to the fish. Also, if you live too far inland in a rural area you might just have to come to terms with the fact that you'll never have access to fresh fish.

I live in the gulf of Carpenter, which is like your texas. All the water here is virtually pristine so we have amazing fish.
just about anything you catch is going to taste great, to the point that some people throw back stuff like cod or salmon because it doesn't compare to other local species and is harder to fillet.

Whenever I speak to people from Mediterranean countries who have travelled around the globe, they insist that while other parts of the world may have more or bigger fish, they never taste as good as back home. A few suggested this has to do with the salinity of the waters there compared to the Med. Seems like they might have a point, after looking at this map.

My only experience is with fish like haddock, that the UK prides itself on and yet it does indeed taste better in Greece.

ah yeah we call them grouper here. They're more like a big cod. We don't eat them, they're protected and a decent sized one is probably older than you.

Pic related is our Jewfish. They like prawns (shrimp) and relatively deep water (>50feet.)

How would they even get mad by that, they eat fish.
I'd love to have a fish named after me.
