I’ve only used self-checkout once years back (at Homey Depot) and it continually fucked up on me to the point the cashier had to come over and straighten it out.

Self-checkout only benefits Wall Street, as now customers have to do the work themselves and deal with all the issues that come with it, while prices continue to climb and the increased profits are pocked by the shekel-shuffling corporate executives.

Only suckers use self-checkout.

Sure, for now. But grocery and other stores (especially larger chains like Walmart and such) are attempting to force customers into using the self-checkout by purposely minimizing the number of human cashiers, resulting in longer lines and a longer wait for customers.

For example, I don’t go to Meijer all that often but I’ve never been in there when the handful of human operated check outs didn’t have a line of at least 2-3 customers each, meanwhile there are a dozen other check out lines sitting idle.

And those human cashiers who lose their jobs or are never hired in the first place, cease to contribute their tax dollars to society while imposing greater costs on government services.

Enjoy driving on pothole filled roads because there aren’t enough tax dollars to keep them fixed…

Every Uni course I took was a "business casual" attire mandatory setting. So before school some times instead of pilfering through the grocery store I would go to Hotels in the area, walk in without hindrance and eat their continental breakfast. In 4 years and the hundreds of times I did this never once was I caught or even spoken to by a hotel employee.

They're too afraid to lose their job than to call a "guests" actions in question. I would take many yogurts and fruits with me on my way out as well.

I do well enough. It's STAFFING the place that's the biggest issue. Most of the year I end up working 70hr weeks because of either incompetent staff, or thieving staff. NY is an "at will" state so I fire people for basically nothing.

I outsourced my business for a year once to a management firm so I could relax, best decision I could have ever made. 70/30 split my way, they micro-managed it, kept it clean... all I did was ordering over the phone or internet to Empire Merchants North, or other distribution centers.

It's my baby at the end of the day, so after a year of service I terminated their contracts with me and started to just work here myself. I have an office my kids can come and fuck off in and a half kitchen with a stove and fridge so we can eat together.

It's basically a second home at this point. I do enjoy it, but it's getting old. I might sell it to someone if provided a decent offer. A franchisor of Dunkin Donuts came here once with a decent offer, but I am only 32... when I am 42 and someone comes along again like that I will take their offer.

I highly recommend it if you have the credit for it. That's how it's done, everyone is purchased on consignment.

This is the emergence of a transitional phase of scoeity. Right now, the socio-political environment hasn't adjusted to the change in technology, but as the technology advances exponentially, and jobs are replaced before new ones are created, it WILL change, in one way or another. Simple. Higher paying jobs for the rest of us, not just the 1%. Natural inequality doesn't come close to justifying the level of income and wealth inequality that exists in our society today. It can't justify CEO pay hundreds of times that of the ordinary worker, and it can't justify the increasing concentration of wealth at the top while almost half of workers are in debt or have no savings to speak of.

So high earners should suffer because the average person is unable to manage their money? Cool story, Comrade.

>> No.7193925

It's not a question of money management, the problem is that most lower to middle class workers live in a world where the overall cost of living is inflating at a faster rate than wages are so they have less extra money to be able to put it into savings or investments.

Meanwhile the wages for top earners keep going up and up and up with little to no increase in taxes at the top since the people making all the money also control the tax code and politics so they can create loopholes and offshore havens for themselves to avoid paying taxes.

I'm not saying that the 1% should necessarily pay more taxes, I actually would prefer to see a flat tax applied to all taxpayers. What I want to see is the abolishment of all tax loopholes so everyone actually pays the same percentage of their income, including capital gains on investment income.

>> No.7193936

>>7193925
>It's not a question of money management

People have no savings and got into debt because of magic? Rats chewed on their mattress stuffed with bills? Lost the keys to their deposit box?

A flat tax would actually be reasonable, but as people like to point out, a flat tax means lower income workers actually pay more tax, and higher income earners pay less, so that doesn't address your concerns.

You make it seem like everyone just magically has savings as soon as they get into the work force. It doesn't work that way. Most people end up going to college and racking up an obscene amount of student loans that they end up paying off for the rest of their lives. Beyond that, there is rent/mortgage, car loans, monthly utility expenses, healthcare expenses, even more so when you decide to get married and have kids. Also, not everyone is smart enough or qualified or has the desire to be a doctor or lawyer or scientist or some other kind of high paid profession so nto everyone ends up making $100k, especially straight out of college.

It takes time to build up a decent amount of savings and it can be very difficult to do when you almost have to live paycheck to paycheck to keep up with monthly expenses since most people don't see it as an option to raise their family in a fucking ghetto.

>a flat tax means lower income workers actually pay more tax, and higher income earners pay less, so that doesn't address your concerns.

Did you read the rest of my post where I said I also want to abolish all tax loopholes and tax capital gains at a higher flat rate as well? That's where the extra tax income from the top earners would come from.

So that was their first mistake.

More credit, gotcha.

>get married and have kids

Why would anyone sane do either of those very expensive things if they were not financially stable?

>Did you read the rest of my post where I said I also want to abolish all tax loopholes and tax capital gains at a higher flat rate as well?

Sure, but no matter what a flat tax rate still either increases tax on low income workers or is a tax cut for higher income workers. Your assumption that higher income workers have income via. capital gains is wrong, for a start.

The top 1% pay 35% of their earnings into federal taxes, state taxes...no idea varies from state to state. Let's say a company makes 1 billion dollars a year but pays 35% of that making $333,333,333 rough payment where you make $1,603 through your menial employment. The owner of the corporation should be punished because you refuse to better your station in life? Retarded. Get over it. The likely chance you'll even earn $1,000,000 in your lifetime is laughable.

The question is, how does one build a portfolio and garner references when beginning, before they have any of those. No one takes them seriously.

I'm saying this as someone who has seen "self taught" indivudals fail for that exact reason. They have no in, not originally stepping stone. Most do not care about a portfolio that has no relevant connection to sources they can trust, no more can they build references before their first position to garner said references.

It's one of the reasons I'm glad I didn't choose that route. There is a reason education almost always has a direct correlation to earning potential.
