Alright, /ck/,

It's almost Christmas time, and I'm looking to treat myself to a nice espresso machine. I've been finding a few here and there, but I don't want to waste time and money on one that doesn't quite work all that well.

Anyone have any experience with home espresso machines that they would like to share? Specifically, I'm looking for a semi-auto machine. I would desire a dual-boiler if it doesn't make the price outrageous.

I had over a year of experience as a barista, and I really miss espresso.

$500-1250.

I'm willing to spend a lot if and only if it's worth it/ lasts a lifetime.

What do you have for a grinder?

I'd say go with the gagia classic ($350) and the rancillio rocky grinder (also $350) you should be set for $700

I've been looking at this one but so many reviews say it breaks within a single year. That's absurd for over $1,000.

I don't have one yet. I can always buy fresh-ground coffee for a bit until I have enough money again to buy a grinder. Unless I can find a machine with an integrated grinder.

How reliable is a machine that cheap? Will it even pull a decent shot?

Those are referring to the 900xl, not the 920xl. They fixed the issues (or so it seems) in the 920xl.

Don't bother with an espresso machine until you get a good grinder. Grab a baratza preciso.
