Can we have a thread remembering fondly the airline food we enjoyed pre-9/11?

I remember flying from San Diego to Orlando back in the day, and getting a hearty meal even in coach.

Now you're lucky if they have anything other than shit Ginger Ale and Coke in the fucking drinks cart.

I've noticed food getting better the older I get, but that may be because I fly exclusively internationally.

I always flew cheap stuff like ryanair
Just once I flew with Lufthansa.
The stewardess with the drink/eat cart comes through and I say no to all offers...

find out later that it is in fact all for free

I've never had anything truly inedible on a flight when they serve meals. Some of it may look weird and be over processed or whatever, but it never really tastes too bad. I always like the bread roll of whatever type and butter or cheese the most.

Is it weird that I like airplane food? For some reason I get excited for what the next meal would be.

I would be careful, I once drank too much on an international flights, took a sleeping pill and shit myself while I was asleep

I was lucky enough to get a free upgrade to first class on a 12-hour flight from Seoul earlier this year.

I didn't take any pictures, but the food was delicious. got 3 course dinners + cheese and unlimited ice cream
Only thing I really regret was drinking so much expensive champagne and being so comfy that I slept during most of the flight.

My fondest memory was the Korean next to me trying to eat mashed potatoes with chopsticks. classic

It was a once-in-a-lifetime thing, so I count my blessings.

I like it too. Someone bringing me food while I get to watch a shitty movie or whatever, yes please.

I had some great meals on ANA and Thai. United is always hit or miss, usually miss, but I had some decent stuff there.

All asian airlines suck except for emirates is my experience.

>Flying a North American airline
Its all disgusting food, alcohol that cost an arm and a leg, and if you're lucky it'll be some ugly middle age bitch mad she has to do her job instead of some ugly man with the same shit attitude except worse because he feels totally emasculated doing a job traditionally held by women

Flying used to be a relatively upscale experience. Every flight I took before 1995 would be considered first class these days. Meals were actually good, plenty of drinks and snacks, large comfy seating, stewardesses who were polite and accommodating.
This is one reason I don't fly anymore unless I'm going overseas or it's an emergency. I don't like being in the flying cattle cars.
I'd rather fly privately, which I've done a few times, but that's a luxury.
