Good god op I swear I used to have that same book. Does it have recipes for cooking whole Turkey's and chickens in the microwave? If so could you post pics for science and nostalgia?

>> No.7032213

Based on font, photography, and topic, I'd guess early/mid 1970s. I have a similar cookbook from my grandmother that was published by Litton, which was a (or *the*?) leading microwave oven manufacturer in the US back then. They published a bunch of microwave cookbooks.

Oh dear good yesssss. That brings back so many memories. When I looked at that waaay back in the day and thought there is just no way that the machine I cook corn dogs and reheat leftovers in could possibly make a fucking chicken. You have made my day op you glorious faggot.

I can't remember exactly how old I was but I know I was still single digits when I saw that book. old enough to call bullshit on most of it. But these pictures are wonderful op. I actually want to cook a chicken in the microwave just to see if I could make even remotely edible. A whole microwave full of internets for you.

Sells for a penny on Amazon, lol. But shipping is $4. I almost want to buy it for shits but.. nah.

there's no page with a list of authors or publishers or anything. No mention of a brand of microwave either.

The only thing is a small "Printed in Korea" on the last page. Mysterious.

why was this era of cooking so disgusting?

>> No.7034078

>>7033984
Gelatin was previously a massive pain in the ass/near impossibility to make at home and microwaves just didn't exist before hand. Two really new, novel things entered the market and people went a little nuts trying to shoe horn the two into places they had no business being.

>> No.7034097

it was a meme to the tenth degree because it was literally unlike anything anyone had ever had before. Sriracha is just chili sauce and people lost their fucking minds over it. Imagine if an entirely new form of cooking suddenly became accessible to the average person

Hint; its sous vide.
