Give me some interesting variations on hot chocolate. Spices, booze, maybe some zest or chili? Anything goes...

Champurrado is like Mexican hot chocolate made with cornmeal, good flavor and easy to make. Its a thick drink.

Its not quite Champurrado but many Mexican families use Abuelita brand chocolate for easy hot chocolate. Not as thick as Champurrado and not the same flavor but still good.

Something I've gotten into after getting an espresso machine with a steam wand.

>melt chopped dark chocolate in a hot water bath
>whisk in some cocoa powder and a small pinch of salt and cayenne
>add vanilla extract and hazelnut syrup
>texture some milk
>pour the chocolate syrup base in a cup and pour the textured milk over it

It's damn good. I think the only real secret to good hot chocolate is not scalding the milk. Many recipes seem to call for bringing the milk to a simmer but this makes it taste sort of "cooked", which I hate. Also, dat skin. Best to keep the milk below 70 C, just hot enough to be nice to drink. Also using both chocolate and cocoa powder - the cocoa fat in the chocolate makes it rich and smooth, but you also need the cocoa powder for a strong taste.

Maybe you should grow some güevos and try it hombre.
It's a substitute for whipped cream really but with a bit more flavor and character. It makes for a very rich "froth" that highlights the spicy flavor of chile. Not much of an aftertaste though. Maybe I'm like one of those girls in mind breaking hentais where vanilla just doesn't do it anymore.
Pic related, it's what's we use to whisk chocolate in my country.

I can't risk hurting my teeth. As you get older, teeth become a huge issue. So aspartame is my sweetener of choice. It's harmless and tastes exactly like sugar, btw.

Crushed nuts on top (with cinnamon if you are an absolute madman like I am) can give it texture and contrast.

I just tried to make a a nut syrup, tasted like ass. Good thing it was pretty weak and the sugar overwhelmed it.
