Okay /ck/, let's decide once and for all, which city's Jews make the best bagels?

Since I endorse the bagel as a sandwich platform, I must also prefer those bagels whose hole swells closest to disappearing altogether. That circular pretzel looking thing loses round one.

Just stay the fuck off /ck/. The concept is to boil the bagel before it is baked to make it chewy. Do not be conned by bagels that are not boiled first. like the costco fakes.

Bagels are denser, chewy-er, and hastier. An un-boiled bagel is just a roll with a hole.

People boil pretzels and then finish them in the ovens
boiling dough is the basic preparation for plenty of staple foods, pasta/noodles in particular
in addition to baking, you can steam, you can grill, and you can fry bread

Oh man you guys need to try a Montreal style bagel.

fucking delicious

>>6948738
Also, OP, the answer is undoubtedly Montreal. Their bagels are boiled in honey water and cooked in a woodfire oven.

NY are salty, boring, and tasteless. Practically just bread in a circle.

Comparing the two is an insult. A NY bagel is incomplete on it's own. It has to be served with something to even make it palatable

I was in Montreal. Ordered room service. Got some nice little mustard packets as one of the condiments. Like everything in hotels not nailed down, I put them in my jacket.

Next day "Oh, anon, you have to try le local bagels."

I dipped one in some mustard.
