One Halloween when I was new in my old town there was this family who owned a respectable amount of land and produced food to live on and whatnot. I went there to get candy and whatnot and left with a bag of veggies and apples and whatnot. I remember it being some of the best stuff I have ever had to this day. I've lived in three different places all within two blocks of one another during the last decade.

Here, I haven't come across a single trick-or-treater to date. The first five years here, I can understand since I lived in an apartment above a fairly secluded restaurant lodged between a used car sales place and a repairs garage. There were no other buildings on my side of the street besides the trailer for the used car place, the garage and my apartment. Still, we stayed home a couple of those years but no kids came. We didn't buy anything to hand out because we figured they wouldn't come, being so secluded and all.
My ex and I then rented a house two blocks away from the apartment for two years. The second year, I don't know because we went out, but the first, we hosted a party for the Walking Dead premiere and didn't have a single kid at the door.
Bought a house three years ago on a quiet, child-filled block. A family-raising sort of place. The first year, I bought some sweeties and chocolates to hand out but no trick-or-treaters came to the street at all. Even the kids on the block didn't trick-or-treat. It took a full year to go through that gross candy. It wasn't even good when it was fresh.
The second, I didn't even bother with buying candy. And I won't this year, either. So ten years, no trick-or-treaters.
