Family just got an ice cream maker. Not my decision.

They have successfully made one batch of A+ coconut ice cream with it. Give me interesting ideas besides vanilla or chocolate or whatever.

I'm currently thinking cranberry with whole chunks of some other fruit that would compliment it like banana

I made some ice cream from leftover baked apples that was pretty delicious.

Mango is always good too, with lots of chunks.

Cherry. Buy frozen cherries. The ones with the pits removed. Use that. It's my favourite of my homemade ice creams made with a more common (to the West) ingredient.

I also make a banana coconut "ice cream" using fresh, unblemished bananas, vit C tablets (to preserve colour), medium coconut cream (around 10-12% fat by volume) and sugar. If you make it with evaporated cane juice instead of sugar, it'd be vegan.

Grape. you cant buy it in stores because it will kill dogs but damn if it isn't tasty.

i made mine using globe grapes, but i can imagine green grapes being equally delicious too.

cream based

please note, juicing is unneccesary, when i made mine, i just chopped them up and baked them then let them cool and added them to the recipe. nice grape pieces to nibble on.

The secret is to either
A: have friends to share your ice cream with
B: not regularly eat a litre of it in one go
or C: exercise

That said, my ice creams are surprisingly low in calories. I don't know if other ice creams have similar caloric content, but mine are always under 150 calories per 100g.

350g fruit × around 40* calories per 100g = 136
175ml whole milk × 60 per 100 = 105
175ml milk cream × 207 per 100 = 362
100g sugar × 4 = 400
This yields about 800ml -1litre of ice cream, enough for eight servings.
That's under 126 calories per serving. Even if the fruit is doubly calorific, that's still under 150 calories per serving.

Who eats /more/ than that? Dear me, you must be quite the lard-arse.
No one could possibly think eating more than 100g (which, with overrun, is about a 120ml/a half cup, yes) of ice cream in one go is normal other than fatties.

One scoop is about 50g (a quarter cup). Two scoops is about 100g (a half cup). Two scoops is normal.
Stop. Being. Fat.
