I know Five Guys is generally hated on /ck/, but I actually like their food, except for the fucking fries.

The key to good fries is to keep them separated a bit after frying. If they're all stacked on top of each other then steam coming off the fries condenses and they all go soggy. Five Guys is the worst culprit of this as your fries typically go from the fryer to the bag (which doesn't help) in about 30 seconds.

The bigger, shittier fast food places don't have to worry though. At a place like Mcdonald's the fries tend to shit for a while in the basket and then on the table. They are delivered to you warm, but not hot. Hence the uniform crispiness that is so common with their fries.

If they and Rally's are sister chains, as I've heard, I'd agree. That's if I could only pick one. Hooter's, which doesn't typically specialize in decent food had good fries in the less-fried category. Wendy's old, thick-cut fries were good when I worked there ('05-'06) and dump some the perfect amount of time before my break. For crinkle-cut fries, some of the best I've had were from bowling allies, because they get so little business outside of office or birthday parties that they have to make them fresh.

Ever since BK switched to shit fries, McDonalds has become my favourite. I like both mushy and crispy fries, but I don't like them big, so McDonalds is my favourite.

Wendy's are too soft, Checkers too greasy, can't remember in-n-out, 5 Guys are pretty good but sometimes have a weird texture, KFC I don't think I've tried. Do they have fries?
