Oh my god that because you fucking did. You brought up the fact it's classed as top tier. I have never been the one to bring up anything irrelevant that's not about flavour.

You don't have a reason to speak bad about the chocolate. And you pop up to bad mouth it when it's mentioned like some hateful demon. Instead of just posting what you like like a normal person. It's ironic that you even made that stupid point. The other anon mentioned all of that autistic stuff about the brand and what the packaging says to justify why it's better and you've bought into it to because the brand carries a lot of prestige.

>> No.6907971

>>6907955

but then i was specifically talking about price. i remember exactly what happened. you said something about how i've never tried g&b, and i said it's one of those midrange chocolate bars that you get given for birthdays and stuff like that. you got mad and asked for top range, and i said valrhona, because that is a much more expensive bar of chocolate.

we then got onto an argument about quality but if you thought i was linking the quality of the chocolate to the price band it was in, you are mistaken.

i don't have a reason to speak bad about green and blacks. it's perfectly nice. but it isn't the best chocolate around, in fact it's very far from it. it's a rather small step up from cadbury's other offerings, which makes sense seeing as it was bought by them and is now owned by kraft.

>> No.6907986

>>6907965

>The other anon mentioned all of that autistic stuff about the brand and what the packaging says

let's be clear. both are branded products. i think green and blacks is a strong brand, and i am offering that as a 'bias' that you might have, seeing as you accused me of being biased in the first place.

my comment about the packaging relates to the fact that every chocolate is different. different harvests and batches yield different qualities. if that information on the packaging, not only does it help you be a discerning consumer but it also says a lot about the respect that the company has for the quality of the chocolate.

it should go without saying that i just like the way valrhona chocolate tastes over green and blacks. but while personal preference is the only reason you give for green and blacks being the 'best' brand, i have additional criteria.

>> No.6907989

>>6907971
Haha I do indeed remember. Your recap bought have me nostalgia haha. Yea you said it was mid range and I said it's irrelevant.

If you truly think Valrhona is better solely based on taste then I can't do anything for you with any amount of talking.

That's the best I can afford. Lindt selection boxes (like most) are over sweetened crap, green and blacks has this flat cardboard like taste. Most people favour mass produced crap because that's what they're used to. They try something that isn't all veg fat, sugar and/or sour american shite and freak out. Also, a lot of the choc has been cheapened over time to keep to a price point.

I'm planning to buy pure cocoa mass chips (criollo bean) from amazon in the future and just eat some with dates. Just wondering whether anyone can recommend brands/share experience?

I know I really like their cocoa powder for hot chocolate. I'd assume their chocolate bars are pretty decent.

See's tastes like childhood to me. My dad used to have to go to California all the time for business and he'd bring back See's. It's still the traditional Christmas candy with my family. Tofee-ettes or the molasses chips are the best.

pretty good

best by far was actually some kind of white chocolate filled with dark nougat that had a very faint coffee note. unfortunately i can't recall the brand. eating 3 pieces probably gave you diabetes but that shit was godlike.

Target used to sell big ass bars of this in plain milk chocolate. Best fucking shit ever and was super cheap. Then they disappeared and now only sell the small bars which is more $ per oz.

The columbia tower club in seattle has its own branded chocolates. I never found out where they were actually being made, or by whom. It was maybe 60% dark chocolate. Pretty good.

Someone I knew who worked there used to bring me bags of the stuff.

it's defensive because if everyone who says they don't like green and blacks is one guy, there's no consensus and you don't have to take the opinion seriously.
