the theme is "fall favorites." they want finger foods and i don't wanna do something boring.

any help?

pumpkin bars and meatballs are already spoken for.

Is booze allowed? Whip up a batch of autumny cocktails or punch or something in that case.

quite easy and restaurant level food

Make some egg rolls / taquitos/ flautas / dumplings or similar using classic fall ingredients. I made some themed off a "thanksgiving dinner" once--they were filled with roast turkey & veg and I made a cranberry based dip on the side.

I usually make "Dirty Sanchez" cookies for my grade schoolers' pot lucks.

Bring the icing separately and the kids can put their own "mustaches" on their cookies.

They are always a big hit.

I don't have a written recipe, sorry. But this is so simple I'm not sure you need one:

cook some turkey & whatever else you want to use for the filling. shred it. put some of your shredded filling on a tortilla or egg roll skin (or whatever you want). Roll up. Deep fry until crispy.

no prob.

another suggestion would be to make mini-size pies using a muffin pan. just make whatever pie recipe you'd normally like for fall (pumpkin, pecan, whatever) and instead of making one big one make a bunch of little ones. same concept could apply to small quiches or tarts

only thing I can think of off the top of my head would be make pumpkin soup and portion out into small coups with a spoon. not exactly finger food but a handy serving. try to find a recipe for pumpkin soup that's good cold, since it'd be hard to keep hot after portioning

Butternut or buttercup squash appetizer.

Roast the squash the oven with just salt and oil (or butter). When it's done scoop it out and mash it in a bowl with seasoning of choice (I like a little brown sugar and garlic powder). Get some wonton wrappings (or something similar). Add one spoonful of roasted squash mash with a little bit of cream cheese. You can also use any soft cheese of your choice. Close them up and you can either panfry, bake, or deep-fry them. I am partial to panfry.

Garnish with a sprinkling of cinnamon and brown sugar (only if you didn't put any in the mashed squash).

It allows you to be really creative too, it's a really loose recipe. Basically make your squash mash however you think it will be good (or leave it plain if you aren't confident).
