I've known 4 guys my age that have ever did work on their own car, the only home keeping things they know how to do are paint(usually not very well) and move furniture. I work in a refinery with about 800 dudes, I catch small talk with about a third of them from time to time, the younger cats have no motivation to do anything but get drunk after work, the older dudes talk all the time about how they used to learn to do things like build decks or lay concrete to hustle some money on the side and how it helped them a lot throughout life. Almost every dude I've talked to over the age of 40 has done their own brakes at east once, and if not they had a brother or cousin who did work on cars as his hustle. Yes, this is all anecdotal, but I see this pattern in what other people are saying as well, and I've seen this in people who still live at home in the ghetto with their parents who milk the government and don't work, all the way to people who's parents make 300k a year and the person themselves is making 80k. It's the overall generation rather than a few select groups of people who with certain opinions or a certain upbringing. I mean, Ive worked with over 2 dozen people who'd rather pay $5 every morning for coffee rather than set a coffee pot to turn on a half hour before they wake up.

I personally disagree. While I have met more men than women of that age bracket who are comfortable with dishes like lasagna or shepard's pie, I have met far, far more men than women who completely lack the ability to cook anything. The number of young men, and even middle aged men, who cannot cook event he most elementary dishes is baffling. The only women I have ever met like this have been absolute dumb as brick degenerate whores, while I have met male engineers and similar professionals without the ability to cook.

Ignoring January which is obviously just a shitfest, I see fat guys at my gym every few months. They work hard for like 2 workouts, and then I never see them again. I'm in my gym often enough that I know who the regulars are. The fatties are not the regulars and it's not because they got less fat.

It's at odds with our desire to support fat people with their weight loss goals, but if fat people had the discipline to lose weight they wouldn't have gotten to that point to begin with. Believe me I want them to stop being fat as much as if not more than they do, but it's not in them. They see exercise and proper diet as a pill they can pop to make the problem go away and then they can go back to their old habits. Shit doesn't work like that.

Grew up in a small town in the country in southern alberta. Pretty much everyone knew how to cook growing up, boy or girl. When I moved to the city it's amazing how little people know how to cook. None of them women I've dated, NONE, knew how to cook and I'm almost 30. My brother's girlfriends are really bad cooks but compared to other women I've known they are master chefs. It's an embarrassment.

I taught my ex how to cook, since their mom never taught them how. I learned by teaching myself the basics and experimenting with spices etc. After that it became a lot easier in all honestly.

Maybe it is because I'm from the Deep South, but I have more than a basic knowledge of how to cook. After my mother died, my paternal grandmother (93 and still going strong) took it upon herself to instruct me on various things. The Internet is also a wonderful guide, especially with international foods.

I'm glad my husband is having a hard time deciding between us going out for a nice birthday dinner, or me buying good ingredients and cooking something up.

It saves money. We do chores together. I cook, he does laundry, I fold it. He washes dishes, I clean counters. He washes sheets, I put them on the bed. He sweeps, I mop.

People don't cooperate or communicate anymore.

Growing up, my mom could cook but I didn't see her much. My dad was actually pretty decent and my step mom was fucking horrible.

I would always hang out in the kitchen while he was cooking and I really wanted to learn. My ex-gf didn't clean at all, and in about two years of dating, I think she cooked for me (bear in mind, the most intricate thing she made for me was like scrambled eggs) like half a dozen times. She ended up telling me when she got back from the store (she ended up getting ground pork by mistake even lol) that she didn't know how to make ground beef for tacos... I thought she was joke. She was dead serious. I ended up just making the meal on my own lol.

The saddest part is that she grew up in a household with four women; she's the oldest of four kids (three of which are girls), and they all lived with the mom. All I'm doing is explaining the circumstances under which a certain group of men has come to the conclusion that pursuing women is no longer worth the effort. This largely has to do with women gaining all the privileges that men traditionally had while keeping all the privileges women traditionally had. I noticed the same thing in university. Same goes for cleaning. Female dorm rooms should have been marked with hazardous material signs. I thin it's mostly due to the way people think. Most women I've talked to that have mentioned cooking or cleaning consider both to be a pain in the ass, because they see them as chores. A lot of them have been nagged by their mothers their whole lives that they're expected to cook and clean, to the point where just thinking about those things irritates them.
