I just got slow cooker, but I don't know what to make with it other than steel cut oats. What should I make with it?

Maybe you could make what is in your picture? Maybe there might even be an archive.

>> No.6825581

throw any piece of meat in there. cook it on lowest setting for 12 hours.

whatever results will likely taste good.

This. Get a boneless chunk of pork, rub it vigorously with salt, pepper, chili powder, brown suger, cumin and a tiny bit of cinnamon. Place in cooker on top of a sliced onion, some coves of garlic and chicken stock. Cook for 6-8 hrs. When done just break apart meat with a fork and add BBQ sauce.

put a whole turkey in there. cook until button timer pops up.

transfer cooked turkey to oven broiler with some browning sauce so the skin crisps up.

Chicken thighs are cheap and foolproof.

I'm trying this recipe tomorrow-

http://www.100daysofrealfood.com/2011/02/25/recipe-the-best-whole-chicken-in-a-crock-pot/

Whole chickens were on sale, and we have no air conditioning; so for us this is a perfect summer meal.

I like to make different types of chili in mine, especially white chicken chili recipes

Does anyone have a chili recipe that tastes like chili you can get out of a can? Mine always turns out tasting weird.

While we're on the topic, do I actually have to go to the effort of 'browning' the meat on saucepan before throwing into the slowcooker like every fucking recipe website says?

This seems awesome, but how would I transfer the turkey from the crock pot to the oven broiler?
The turkey will probably be sloppy, falling apart and too heavy to hold itself together.
Are the crockpot removable pots always oven safe? And how would I remove the extra liquid, ladle it out y'think?

I don't brown my pork or chicken, but I would brown ground beef in chili or steak bits in a stew.

you can make some baller macoroni and cheese with like some eggs and shit

It'll help a little but overall I don't and it tastes great. Less pans to wash.

i want to do a pork roast in pineapple juice, will that go over as well i think it will? or will the juice be too acidic and make the meat fall apart in a bad way?

gonna try this pork recipe this weekend

my fav thing in a slow cooker is carne guisada. Get some cheap stew beef cuts, season and dredge in a bit of flour, fry on high real quick, throw in the slow cooker with onion, bell pepper, chili if you want some spice, and tomato. Plus extra seasoning of cumin and a bay leaf. Then just add water and half a small can of tomato sauce and let it go on low for 8+ hours and it's so damn great.

I also like doing ribs and brisket, especially when it's winter and I've been craving some bbq but it's too cold to grill.

for ground beef you def should but other meats it's just adding flavor or a crisper outside and it's not at all necessary. I like to fry veggies before throwing them in too just cause it's there.

Why not just check it half or 3/4 way through and if you see it's at the doneness you prefer then take it out instead of letting it go longer till it falls apart too much?
