Mainefag here - I got it into my head to make some dank steamed clams and gnocchi - and then I thought - "shit dude I could dig some up, I live on the coast"

Any experience , guys?

i live in MA and ive done this along the north shore like twice. wait til water is at the lowest tide, and find sandbars along the water they will be plenty of clams along the side of the sand bar. use a small rake or pitchfork they will be only a couple inches in the sand.

I love finding my own food, and dig clams every time I'm near the shore. I'm always happy to do it, and always amazed at how cheap it would be just to buy them.
