How do you eat canned sardines, all together with bones and stuff? Does it taste well like that?

>> No.6801937

>>6801932

Yeah. Eat them whole.

>> No.6801940

It's pretty good. I typically get them in mustard sauce. No big deal. Tastes just fine.

Whole, on a pretzel. Great for social occasions.

>> No.6801984

I like it whole, yes. Try this: pound some garlic and ginger into a paste then add a tinned sardine or two and mash it up.
Cook this mixture in oil with chilies, add sliced fish sausage, sliced blanched green cabbage, and par-boiled noodles, in that order, and stir-fry it up, adding a little sauce of some sort, such fish, soy and/or oyster sauces, and water to finish up the noodles. Toss some chopped chives and/or scallions in at the end and enjoy your stir-fried fish mee.

Does anyone have experience with frozen sardines? Is the texture affected much by freezing?

I'd like to try grilling them, but frozen is my only option.

I don't really like the bones, you can remove them cleanly by pressing on the side of the sardine with a fork, it will open in relatively clean halves and you can remove the spine.
