I picked up this habit from my British colonialist stepdad who was born in India or some shit. It keeps the malaria away and soothes upset stomach and body aches. Maybe. I think you have to drink it from the little glass bottles for it to work.

I prefer to just make fresh ginger tea. I really like ginger ale (Vernors is good), but I like it as an everyday cold, refreshing drink rather than trying to soothe my stomach with it.

If you're drinking ginger ale for the stomach/motion sickness relief, drink ginger beer. Either Bundaberg (you can see the ginger particulate in it), Cock and Bull (allegedly makes a mean Moscow mule, but what do I know?), or just any ginger beer that just straight makes your mouth feel like you are burning hot food when you drink it.
