Hey /ck/,

tomorrow is my birthday and even though I am not a really a NEET I usually don't celebrate it or get any greetings from people outside of my family. As this realisation makes me somewhat sad every year and even though I try to ignore it I am currently considering to bake a cake just for myself and wanted to ask if you maybe have a recipe to share. I would highly appreciate it.

Good job, you're an adult. No one gives a dick about your birthday and neither should you.

Get Funfetti with Funfetti frosting. You need the Funfetti frosting.

my birthday was on the 12th.

one single sister said "happy birthday, john!" on her facebook, and that was it.

the way i'm treated, you'd think i must be a convicted child rapist or some other despised societal outcast.

nope, i'm just a normal guy. i have no idea why i'm so ignored.

I was 18 years old when I sat in ambush, getting rained on from Christmas Eve to Christmas Day. Prior to that, I was on a long range reconnaissance patrol turning 18 down in Central America. When I mentioned it was my birthday, my squad leader gave me a present - he made me carry the big ass radio. I learned after that it was never a good idea to celebrate birthdays or holidays.

10 years later, all special days seized to exist. Holidays were an inconvenience because stores were closed. I'd rather skip them except for the time off.

I can't imagine anything more depressing than baking a birthday cake and eating it alone.

Buy your favourite bottle of booze and ring up a hooker.

John, you sound like a really needy, self deprecating, little snot that must be a absolute nightmare to endure so I can totally understand why no one would want to engage you in even casual communications. That being said, what kind of cake did you make for yourself and eat alone sobbing in the dark?

Just go buy an ice cream cake. My last birthday I drank beer and ate pizza by myself. It was great!

Individual cakes can be challenging due to scaling down the ingredients such as eggs; i mean it would be impractical to use half an egg. Then there are the horrible travesties of "mug brownies" and the like which make it seemingly impossible to construct a quick and easy cakes. If I was in your shoes (thank god, I'm not cuz you seen like a huge faggot) I would go with the whole recipe and portion it out into individual servings with ramekins or cupcake trays. That way you could more easily store the excess product in the fridge and/or freezer (but we all know your fat ass is just going to eat it all). Further simplifying the process would be the lack of decorative and ascetic adornments (its not like anyone's going to be impressed anyway).

One year I had nothing to do on my birthday so decided to just go out and get drunk anyway and leave regrets for the next day.

The first place I went to asked for ID (which I had) but was worried about the guy knowing it was my birthday so just said I didn't have any. I then just went home and drank vodka watching youtube.

My mother always made me a small marble cake when I didn't have birthday parties.
They look adorable.

This, if you have a favourite kind, we could probably link you a few recipes. I'll look through a couple of mine and link back in a minute, OP.

I honestly want to feel for this, but I have a "friend" who's so god damn annoying and controlling (one of those wannabe alpha types) that I can't stand to be around him for longer than an hour usually. I've told him to his face plenty of times why people find him annoying, but he doesn't listen and always posts on his facebook about how he feels like everyone's ignoring him and how he's such a loner.

Sorry if you're actually a good dude, but in my experience most people who get ignored like that are either

a) full of self-esteem issues (or depression/anxiety) and don't put themselves out there enough (if this is you, then I'm sorry bro, I used to be there and I know it sucks)

or

b) horribly annoying to be around and too oblivious to see it
