Portland Oregon thread. If you live here or near give some god damn hope man. I want real food. Doesn't matter what kind. But I want a sandwich that doesn't cost 14 bucks. You have a literal city block of high quality food trucks. %80 of restaurants will serve you a side of garlic aioli. VOODOO DONUTS!

For god's sake, I live in VA. The best cafe in town has a mr coffee machine and serves crappy sandwiches on stale bread.

Stop bitching. At the very least, go to a co-op or a farmers market and get some fresh ingredients to make what you want. I mean fuck dude.

Good luck with that, hope you like the ghetto. The whole east end from Rockwood out through Gresham is wall-to-wall spics. Le Pigeon

Levant (Honestly the best thing in Portland)
Katchka
Restaurant Murata
Bollywood Theatre
Urban Farmer (good breakfast)
Behind the museum cafe (good for a light lunch and tea break)
Maurice (good, but don't go on a hot day their air conditioning blows)

Also, don't bother getting Voodoo Doughnuts. They're not that good and the original is in the heart of the pearl district, and avoid that at all costs. The line is long as shit and always has homeless people accosting you outside. Its also next to a porn theatre. If you absolutely MUST get Voodoo dougnuts, head to Vooodoo doughnuts too(too because two is too mainstream and we're retarded) on the east side, its generally a lot less packed.

Head to the Japanese garden on the west side, its not half bad.

I barely could stand Portland, I was only there for around 3 weeks for business and going to some of these restaurants was basically the only good thing about those 3 weeks.

I forget how it goes but basically this anon posts a story about his roommate who neglects her child to a rage worthy degree by onlY feeding it cheerios from a dog dish and then trading it to the abusive hillbilly family for a blue Toyota 4 runner

Portland sucks. why are there so many bums? what is so great about voodoo donuts?

Aside from the fact that the original VD is right across from the homeless shelter, downtown PDX is probably one of the cleanest cities in the country. You're just talking out of your ass.

Voodoo donuts is overrated. They have some "crazy" combinations and have been shown in a lot of shows. But they are usually stale and just overrated. The combinations are okay but it loses it's luster after a while.

I lived there 2003-2008, and have visited almost every year since, because half my family moved out there.

Haven't visited in nearly three years, so maybe something's changed.

I heard a rumor that a lot of the mentally ill people are transported here.

But we have a lot of drifters that come here because our weather is generally fair, heroin is easy to get and people give them money.

It has changed a lot over the years. Mostly due to a lot of people moving here with their concepts of what Portland is.

That's honestly sad to hear.

I moved there for Reed, and probably got Pok Pok chicken 3 times a month, when it was just a shack in a parking lot. So yeah, my impression is definitely biased towards the SE, but the last time I was there I went to the whisky soda lounge and there was nothing to complain about (that was probably more than three years ago)...

That part of se is fucking fancy. They have a food cart park too. I used to live just a little past 82nd and division, and I would always take the 4 to go to work and stop at all kinda of neat places down division. I even took some random fellow 4channers to some places.

I'm calling you a liar unless you have:
A. Roommates out the ass
B. Live in NoPo past Killington or Felony Flats
C. Family connection
D. Rent Assistance

You cannot find a reasonable apartment in Portland, and all the cock-gobbling owners think their shitty 1970s apartments in Beaverton/Hillsboro should be priced at Portland prices.

In fairness, it does smell like piss. Especially this summer with no rain.

However, Portland is extremely clean. When I first came to Seattle, I couldn't believe how dirty it was, and how bad the graffiti was compared to PDX.

Clays bbq on se 29th and division is really good. Also about 15 food trucks on same block. Good mexican, korean/hawiian, and a gyro place on corner of 28th.

There's not a single michelin star in the entire city.

Also, try Nuvrei, they have some great macrons.

I liked their fried chicken a lot. Brunch box is good as well. A lot of the Mexican carts have cheap tacos etc. I used to get a Shelly's Honkin Huge Burrito when I had a long day.

On tenth I would go to the Japanese cart a lot. Did you try Bunk's yet?
