I love it, especially with a bit of maple syrup on it.
Haven't had it in probably a year.

Undeniably god tier.

French toast loaf ftw

My whole family hates it though, so I get kind of sick of bread pudding after having to eat it all.

I still try once a year around christmas time though.

If you drink lots of brandy before and during the consumption of said christmas time bread pudding, you will be able to consume much more of it.

I love bread pudding. I make mine with the kind of custard you use for creme brulee, aka cream and egg yolks. It's extremely rich compared to most bread pudding recipes. It's also much better.

I'm partial to chocolate chunk bread pudding with a cinnamon sugar crust.

Started my bread pudding. The way I learnt to make it takes about a day but is not at all labour intensive.
You make a base custard (egg, milk, confectioner's/powdered sugar and freshly powdered/grated spices and/or a bit of essence/extract and a pinch of salt) and pour it over some cubed up stale bread and let it soak in the fridge for 12-24 hours.
You also cook some dried cherries in liquor or wine (such as brandy, port or, what I used, vermouth) and sugar then let that macerate in a separate container for the same span of time as the bread pieces.
Next day, combine the two and either steam, bake or steam-bake (with a water bath in the oven) until done, then cool and stash in the fridge.
To serve, you put a bit of cold bread pudding in a bowl and make a simple custard from egg yolks, sugar and heavy cream to pour over it.
Pretty simple and delicious, IMO.

Man, this looks good but I hate it when people put processed factory-made candies in deserts. Why not just make your own peanut butter and chocolate-type topping instead of buying some shtity candies? I blame white soccer moms.

>Why not just make your own peanut butter and chocolate-type topping

Because why the fuck would you waste time making such a small, insignificant decoration from scratch. I blame cooking's version of the RealTraveler ™

In the context of that dessert it's not insignificant. The flavour of the candy would be very prominent. Might as well make it yourself if you're not a lazy fuck who actually want to bake instead of just assemble food together and heat it up.

Limited facilities in this cafe (I look after a few eateries on a college campus), but I accept point as valid if impractical. For your trouble: I think this one was honey, banana and gold raisin.

It's cooling right now.Took a while for the bread to soften all the way through.
Tomorrow, I will slice it and have a piece with custard sauce.
Anyone want a pic now or tomorrow, when I have it as an after-curry dessert?
