Black soldier fly larvae. Literally maggots.
Before you ask, no, it wasn't on purpose.
>college kid, so I ate a lot of rice, potatoes, etc.
>girlfriend got onto a health kick
>gets me to buy brown instead of white rice
>okay I don't really care, it tastes fine and it makes her happy

>decides she's not a fan
>I like it alright, fills me up
>she leaves a container on apartment balcony by mistake
>a day later in a hurry, I grab it, thinking it's the one I just grabbed out of the fridge

This melon, I've never seen it in the US or Canada, only in Iran although other tourists told me that they have in in SE Asia. It's called `خربزه` in Persian, which is totally bizarre because it literally means 'donkey-goat' and nobody seems to know why. Sounds like one of those versions of Bazinga that people make up to mock TBBT. (It's a shitty sitcom tbh)

Fresh guava juice is great.

Me: Kelapa kopyor (pic related).

According to wikipedia: a naturally occurring coconut mutant which has an abnormal development of the endosperm. The result of this abnormal development is a soft jelly-like coconut flesh.

The bones are crunchy, but not like normal bones. They're still undeveloped. It's like fried softshell crab almost.

Most of these aren't that unusual, but ah well.

Fried grasshoppers
Rocky Mountain Oysters
Offal (beef tongue, brain, liver, heart)
Goya (bitter melon)
Quince fruit
Horned melon
Grape flavored apples
Cotton candy grapes

And a bunch of different crossbreeds of melons, fruits, and vegetables. One of the few perks of working in the produce section of a grocery store.
