Why do you guys care what something looks like if it still has good everything else?

Taste, aroma, mouth feel, etc.

because we can afford food that isn't retarded and afford to throw it away if it looks retarded on accident because we didn't know better when choosing it.

Well, first of all, that top ear has kernels that are too big, and therefore too old, and therefore too starchy. It wouldn't be as tasty.

That top ear isn't retarded nor does it have Downs (nor is it a potato. nyuk)- it just wasn't fully pollinated.

Well, my friend...

Did you know that each strand of silk attaches to ONE kernel? A pollen grain has to land on the silk and travel down the length in order to pollinate the one kernel. When you find a missing kernel, it's cuz that one grain or one strand didn't connect.

If you try to grow your own corn and only plant a few, you need to help pollinate all the ears or you'll end up with a big ear with only a few kernels on it.

that is some crazy shit. are you a farmer or a rocket scientist

So the hair is simply to act as a roadway for pollination to occur?

OP here, top corn is homozygous for kernel pattern.

Also they tasted the same, I ate them both.
