No beer general and the latter parts of Friday has arrived.

Needs to be remedied!

As always all things beer, drinking, buying, hoping to find, poured out the toilet due to bad memories?!

Liked the pic related, almost a month after the burial date it still had some kick to it, wish i could have got a hold of it fresher!

Does ale count as a beer?
Alc pleb here, so I don't know

Draak here remains the best i've ever tasted.
Its like drinking a really dark fruit punch, but you don't taste the alcohol.
Then you stand up, fall down, and shit your pants.

Has anyone here tried Not Your Father's Root Beer? Opinions?

It's...interesting. Having just one is good, and the novelty factor is high so it's "fun", but I don't really drink pop so the sweetness can be a little overwhelming. I can't imagine sitting down and getting drunk on the stuff, or drinking a six pack. I don't think I'd even want more than 2 in one night.

This beer actually made my throat a little sore the next day. Anyone else experience that?

WAY too sweet for me. I don't drink soda either so I was just not used to it. Syrupy too, but not in a good way like a big stout or something similar. I guess it wasn't bad, but it wasn't for me.

I bought a six pack of this Monday. I have been drinking mainly IPAs, sours, wheat/witbeers, and Saisons this spring and summer. Haven't had a big malty beer in a long time, and I always wanted to try this. I thought why not? The place I get my beer got a whole bunch of Oskar Blues in recently.

I am very disappointed. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for a big malty beer after all? Honestly I don't like it at all. I even made my self drank two of them on different occasions, but on the third one I poured it out, couldn't finish it. Way too thick and malty and sweet.

I get caramel, malt, malt, and more malt, chocolate, some fruitiness, and a tiny bit of earthy smokiness. Sounds fine, right? Well for some reason I couldn't stand it. Maybe my tastes changed? I would have been all about this the past winter.

Weird.

just finished my six pack of Lagunitas Sucks. It was very good. It had some typical IPA flavors like pine and grapefruit, and a little tropical fruit and malt, but the interesting thing about it for me, was that it had this really refreshing character/flavor to it, like melon and cucumber. I have never really gotten that in a beer before.

Actually, Sculpin kind of has a melon character to it, but cucumber? Definitely unique. I tasted it all 5 times I had Sucks too. I really liked it though.

ale and lager are two different types of beer (a dichotomy) ales are fermented at warmer temperatures and the yeast concentrates at the top while lagers do the opposite (cold, bottom). Lagers ten to taste smoother and crispier while ales are "stronger" tastes. Ales are the classical style while lagers are newer since they needed to be made in cold caves due to the need for a chilly temperature.

You seem to have misinterpreted the issue, I have a friend that is 21, but me and my group of friends usually buy all for one, like a few cases or a handle or something

Being college students we're not always loaded with cash so I can't usually buy something that I want without having to spend extra, and the money I have allocated for alcohol is usually going towards what everyone else is getting

Also, not the anon who posted the Resin, but it is a little overrated, like everything Sixpoint does. I mean they are a good brewery and cool guys but people (especially on a site like beeradvocate) just go a little too crazy for them.

Same here, it's gone from all the bottle shops but there is literally cases of it in the regular grocery stores. Thank you based WinCo for having a good beer selection. But yeah, Sumpin' Extra is definitely a treat. Wheaty tasty goodness in a bottle.

Sucks to hear Resin is overrated but I'd still want to try it and compare it to the brews available here. Apparently Green Flash's West Coast IPA is super overrated but that stuff is pure nectar imo.

I'll buy local variety packs occasionally. Terrapin has pretty good choices at different times of the year, sometimes with special releases only in the mix 12. Sweetwater has slightly less interesting brews in their mixed 12's, and finally Red Hare has a variety 12 I'll take to a party if I don't plan on drinking a lot.

Harpoon has a nice IPA variety box, Sam Adams has the hop tour which I don't recommend. If you like that Summer Pack from Sierra, try the UFO Sampler from Harpoon. It has their UFO white, hefe, grapefruit shandy and a raspberry wheat in there I think.

Finally if you want to spend the money grab a Stone mix 12 and enjoy the delicious beer inside.

People are sick of that shit, it's just going to be a saison craze because people see through the "session ale" nonsense but for the foreseeable future still demand something that's distinguishably not the beer that the kind of people who say "craft beer" would call "normal beer".

Deep down everyone just wants a central european lager, and we all know it, but we refuse to admit it because we think it would be an admission of guilt and im not a pleb why r u a pleb drinking ur obsolete pleb lager, u might as well drink pisswater we're american we finally learned how to make CRAFT beer and CRAFT beer is not refreshing or drinkable.

So saisons will be it for a while. Eventually, not sure how long but it will happen, we'll get over the guilt, like a rape victim who realizes she doesn't really hate men, and rediscover what germans and czechs have known all along: tasteful balance and restraint are good, and wretched excess is the drinking equivalent of an edgy atheist getting satan tattoos to show that he's no longer a christfag.

You're comparing Budweiser and Modelos Chelada? Or something else referred to as "buds"?

Just curious.

The Chelada was nice but it got eh after a while. I drank it with ice and a straw when I realized what I was drinking. It's just that I got a tall can of the stuff and it wasn't exactly hydrating. I didn't even piss that much until later so either I'm holding my booze better or the thing's like 90% tomato soup. The buzz was eh, too.
