On a more serious note, what do you want to do in the food industry? If you want to be a chef then you can start as a dishwasher, waiters usually don't get anywhere further in the industry.

Not that i know of, pretty much all your responsibilities include is taking care of your assigned tables, setting them up, tidying up, taking care of customers (of course) and knowing the entire menu in and out. Only things they will teach you is how to handle customers and work with the register and all that crap.

I worked as a waiter at a Pizza Hut last year. All they showed me in training was how to use the pos system and how to refill the salad bar.
You have to take an online course that your manager doesn't give a shit about and tells you to just click through.
I worked there for six months and didn't even open a menu once, i didn't know shit on it. Still made great tips because I'm not a sperg. Eventually had to quit because I got put on house arrest but that doesn't really relate.

It's not a bad job as far as waiting tables goes but it's still waiting tables, which is always going to suck ass no matter where you are.

Depends on the 'industry' you want to get into. If you mean will it help you become a waiter at a real restaurant, probably, but I would recommend becoming a non-server role at a restaurant (host, busboy, runner) and then ask to be cross trained as a server later on.

as a former manager of a pizza shack i can attest that only one manager will actually give a shit what you do and the other four will wait until one of the other servers starts bitching about you to do anything about it. that manager will eventually get sick of all the other managers smoking cigarettes, gossiping, taking naps and fucking off on facebook all day and leave for a different job.
this will start a chain reaction of several BOH employees and under-managers quitting in rapid succession because the safety net manager isn't there to babysit and wipe asses any more.
