>> No.6678887

the answer is nothing. I dont think anyone even knows what "Quad Cities" means outside of that region. you're about to be buried in shitty jokes about stereotypes about midwestern food and people.

so what i'm saying is if you want to enlighten us, post fast before the trolls find you.

>> No.6678984

Nobody knows what the fuck the "Quad Cities" are. Nobody thinks anything of their "cuisine" because anywhere that isn't touching an ocean is a culinary wasteland.

Never heard of them, but food from Iowa is terrifying. They put Doritos on pizza.

Hey OP. I know a ton because I grew up there. Left there in '98 for Iowa City and visited often afterwards.

The pizza in your photo can be only one place: Happy Joes. You got my second favorite topping, after their finely-diced Canadian bacon and their taco pizza. I had some a couple of years ago (I live in CT now) and it was exactly as I remembered, unchanged, delicious. Love Happy Joe's.

The QC has its own style of course (Harris Pizza is the best example probably), strip-cut with finely ground sausage under the cheese, etc etc people can read up on it if they want. HJ's has always been kind of its own thing.

I miss the QC. :( Great place to grow up overall, if I had kids I wouldn't mind raising them there.

Don't forget Hungry Hobo sandwiches, Whitey's Ice Cream, Jim's Rib Haven, Machine Shed, etc. Good food in them there parts

It's actually five. We're real gud with numbers.

You mean "taco pizza"? The corn chips are hardly the most offensive topping. Shredded lettuce does not belong on a pizza.

For everyone hating on taco pizza, well, I don't know what to say to you. I grew up with it, Happy Joe's version specifically, and I think it's fucking awesome. Had some when I visited last Christmas. It was still fucking awesome.

>> No.6679266

go to RIBCO and get the RIBCO sandwhich. Eat Whiteys ice cream, Pancheros, grinders spaghetti house, hu hot etc. AVOID HAPPY JOES terrible food

Bbops is GOAT

Mom grew up in Davenport and my grandpappy owned a butcher's shop. He was supposedly drinking buddies with Happy Joe himself.

Meh. It's good when it's fresh and I have a coupon. Too many times I'll go in mid-afternoon and get something lukewarm that gives me instant shits. Thank god for Culver's.

Anyone else think that, from the thumbnail, that was just a shitload of weed on a pizza?

It's really a tasty and interesting creation. You've got your standard crust, a sort of tomato/refried-bean/sausage/beef kind of a thing (I've never really been sure what), cheese, lettuce, diced tomatoes, crushed tortilla chips, and then - the key to it all - Spicy Joe's taco sauce.

To anyone unfamiliar with taco pizza, it doesn't seem like it should work, but everyone I grew up with fucking loves it and it's not because we're Midwestern hicks with overbites and no taste.

Again: don't knock it till you've tried it.

Wonder if that was the Olde Smokehouse at the corner of Locust and Marquette. I loved that place as a kid.
