Hey Co/ck/s! Hot dogs are getting so popular it's starting to annoy me. It's bland, it's unhealthy and for some fucking reason, people believe it's an acceptable meal to serve at socials and whatnot.

Since I'm not an amerifat, I'm looking for vegetable-heavy alternatives to the traditional shit-tier ketchup and mustard dog. Must pack a max of veggies and sensible foods with a minimum of preparation.

Up to date I've had a few successful recipes.
>Taboulé and tahini dogs
> Green papaya salad with thai dressing and peanuts
> Tzatziki with cucumber, tomatoes, red onions and feta

So what are your ideas?

Well, should I abandon social events altogether because they always include damn hotdogs? Instead I'm just going to bring along healthy alternatives and enjoy a more complete meal...

Just buy field roast sausages. They're not the healthiest food ever, but it sure beats hot dogs or regular sausages by a huge margin.

Look at that low saturated fat content

They are made with herbs and spices which taste a million times better than the garbage/throwaway parts they grind up, add fillers to, and press into hotdogs because otherwise it wouldn't be considered edible.

"Becoming" popular? This has been a huge thing in Chicago since forever and most places caught onto it years ago.

Tbh I only crave a hotdog maybe once a year.

Why not just eat something else entirely? Or just eat a good sausage with some grilled onions and peppers. Otherwise if you're going to go to that much trouble at a BBQ, just make something else entirely.

I've literally never seen any hotdog that was made from quality ingredients. Even sausages are generally made from some of the most disgusting parts of animals. Additionally, any truly good flavor which is in sausages comes from spices. Face it. Field roast uses a better medium for delivering herbs and spices. It tastes better, is significantly less unhealthy, and goes well with all the same disgusting condiments.

When you eat a "gourmet hot-dog ", do you drink "non-liquid water" with it, only to take a "smell-less dump" later?

MAN I'VE HAD SAUSAGES MADE FROM WHOLE CUTS AND THEY HAVE NO GRISTLE AND THEY'RE DELICIOUS AND WHEN THE CASING GETS BROWNED FROM BEING BROILED OR BAKED IT'S SO GOOD YOU CAN'T IMITATE THE FLAVOR OR TEXTURE WITH VEGAN FOODS WHICH USUALLY TASTE LIKE PROCESSED ANUS ANYWAY, MIGHT AS WELL HAVE THE REAL THING WHICH IS PROBABLY HEALTHIER

Just because some vegan sausages taste bad doesn't mean you shouldn't ever try new vegan sausages. Field roast products are all pretty legit. Even their cheeses are decent which I never thought I'd say about vegan cheese. (so is cashew cheese. You do like cashews, right? Check out vtopian. It's an excellent spread for crackers and bread)

Just read these descriptions and try to tell me those don't sound good. You don't need to be a vegan to like these flavors

Italian – made with fresh eggplant and packed with fennel, red wine, garlic and sweet peppers
Mexican Chipotle – a spicy-hot blend of smoked Chipotle peppers, Chili de Arbol peppers, fresh chopped garlic, sweet onions seasoned with cumin seed and oregano
Smoked Apple Sage – a savory combination of apples and sage anchored with yukon gold potatoes with a subtle hint of hickory smoke

one more thing to add, is that I do think these field roast sausages taste much better when sliced up and used in vodka sauce with mushrooms, rather than used as hotdogs, but they still work as hotdogs too.

>> No.6672463

There's also field roast frankfurters apparently, but the ingredient list doesn't really have my mouth watering. Although neither did regular hotdogs back when I ate them.

Ingredients: Filtered water,
vital wheat gluten, expeller
pressed safflower oil, organic
expeller pressed palm fruit oil,
barley malt, naturally flavored
yeast extract, tomato paste,
apple cider vinegar, paprika,
sea salt, onions, spices, whole
wheat flour, garlic, natural liquid
smoke, caraway, celery seed,
ground yellow mustard, paprika
oleoresin.

Just eat the fucking hot dog, what's wrong with you? It's not like you have to make it a regular part of your diet of you don't want to.

If you're too autistic to enjoy a hot dog at one of these 'social events' then you're probably not wanted there anyway tbh

Accepting even one shitty meal is a slippery slope to becoming an amerifat. Sorry for your obesity but I don't feel like having diabetes by age 12. It's not my problem if people in america are culinary illiterates and all around uneducated fuckheads, you can just fuck off and go eat 10 kilos of chocolate chip pogos with your whale family.

So like are you going places where people are grilling the hot dogs there? Like barbecues and outdoor socials and stuff? Just bring along something like a different sausage, maybe a chicken sausage, that they can throw on the grill for you. Bring the whole package in case anyone else wants any.

As far as adding vegetables to hot dogs, they're great with mashed avocado/guacamole and tomatoes. They're also pretty good with cabbage or pickled cabbage, or go for "Chicago style' which is a load of pickled vegetables with mustard.

really i thought the entire point was to cook fatty meat inside of a casing which traps in the moisture and fat, which is why you don't pierce sausages when you're cooking them, but what do i know, i only get sausage from an indie sausage maker and i've only been eating sausages me entire life gay jokes
