Having had both more authentic versions and American style, American isn't bad if you go with a good pizza place. There's just something about meat, cheese and tomato sauce that makes it work so well.

I am studying in Manchester, and most of the junk food is of low quality. The kebab is shit, pizza is to greasy and doesn't taste like anything, and the burgers from the paki shops tastes like shitty McDonald's.

In Camden there's a pizza stall run by an Italian guy called Antonio, you can get a whole huge calzone for £4 with a drink, a 12" pizza for £8 or a slice for £1.20. Best Pizza I've tasted outside of Italy, plus it's funny watching him shout 'GUYS ANYBODY WANNA ORDER' in his accent.

Go in, head towards the market, find the churro place and turn right. He should be there screaming his lungs out perpendicular to the huge thai place that serves slushies and thai food. Be careful because it is hot.

I eat it all at once. The only complaint I have about it is that the tomato slices are too big, the cucumber isn't really an issue. If you fold a slice in two as you eat it and bite into the tomato it isn't all that bad though.
