What is one supposed to do when you get sushi rolls that are simply too big to chew in one bite?

The place my friends and I like to go to serves them up so big that it fills your entire mouth and there's not even any room to chew. It's good sushi, but I almost always end up ordering something else because I simply can't fit that shit in my mouth.

I thought you weren't supposed to.

Get a bigger mouth.

But really they shouldn't be making them that big if you honestly can't do it in one bite.

Well, you have two options.

Choking to death, or eating it in 2 bites.

What you can did, which is what I did when I was a child, is just take a bite but don't put it down.

So long as the chopsticks don't leave the vicinity of your mouth, I consider it 1 bite.

Are you supposed to grab nigiri sushy with your hands?

It is traditional, but use chopsticks for sashimi. This is helpful:

If you can't finish it in one bite you have to admit defeat to your sensei, travel to kyoto and commit sudoku whilst uttering the phrase" お父さん,お尻をよこせ。”

Have you ever tried this?
The nori is to though for normal teeth, you are going to think you made it through, but then the half you try to eat is just going to dangle down from the chopsticks, then the sudden shit in weight will bring the whole thing crashing down into the ponzu staining the white shirt of your gay lover.

There's people like that all over the world, and a lot of them on this board, but the japanesey are THE WORST.

It's admirable to try things the traditional way, but if you can't or don't like it and someone is offended... fuck them. Seriously, fuck them.

I saw this video once long ago about a guy that runs a burger restaurant. They don't put anything on their burgers. No condiments (except the house mustard), no cheese, no veggies. If you ask for any of these things he'll throw you out, and is proud of it.

There is no such thing as a meal good enough to justify putting up with someone that autismal.

Eat it like a hot dog. Sushi rolls are finger food designed for street vendors. That's why they're rolled together like that. Chopsticks are an affectation.

That's just fucking sloppy.

The culinary practice of serving un-shelled seafood is just awful across the board.

It's really, really good when prepared properly with good ingredients.

But it really boils down to personal preference. Some people (like me) really like the stuff. Some simply enjoy it and it eat it because it's cool or something.

ive always loved it, and im even one of those 'sit closer to the bar so its fresher' faggots, but it just didnt do anything for me this time

i think maybe im just bored of it. the simplicity and the craftsmanship demand respect, but i may have overdone it over the years

you just have to learn to take the whole thing.

to take multiple bites is to dishonor your chef, and most importantly, yourself.

>> No.6661765

I always wondered the same OP. If you try to eat it in 2 bites, you can't bite through the nori, resulting in everything falling off.

>> No.6661771

Change place. Try to do some yourself, one bite pieces only and then you're not going back to this non professionnal two bites place.
