what does /ck/ think of vegemite?
Are there any special recipes you have to use it besides toast and sangas?

>> No.6658156

Saos or Vita Weets.

I add a bit of of vegemite to my bolognese sause.
It's also nice on plain spaghetti.
Vegemite on toast with tomato sauce instead of cheese is nice too.

Have it with avacado or base for a pizza

We offered the hills hoist to the world, but they insisted on clinging to their shittier clothesline technology. The world is beyond help.

Marmite is better

I use it when I make gravy, which isn't that often.

Why has it been slapped on that toast in little spots? Do you not have knives to spread that stuff in Ausfailia?

>> No.6661817

Ausfag here can confirm.

>> No.6661822

It's not strong and intimidating enough like Marmaite. I only like foods that people don't like.

It's fucking hard to spread without piling it on, and piling it on would be a huge salty mistake

toast + butter + vegemite is pretty good

A lot of people don't really like Vegemite, and pretend they do while spreading it on really thinly so they can barely taste it. OP's pic is what tends to happen when you spread it like that, especially if you put way too much butter on, as the person who made OP's pic seems to have done.

Non-ausfag, non-bongistanian either, but i enjoy marmite and vegemite from time to time. I have to be craving it to want to eat it on toast, though. Vegemite is a bit harsher than marmite (much like ausfags themselves, lol) but i like it with certain things. Its good added to gravy, like another anon said, and tastes great IN crackers (added to the cracker dough). Ive never added it to spaghetti sauce, but i can see how that would be good.
I feel about it the same way i feel about Branston pickle or (here in the US) certain hot sauces or jellied cranberry: its good for certain things, but you cant just use it on anything.

OP here. Vegemite is strong as shit, so you spread it lightly. The only reason the Americans made the Vegemite challenge a thing it because they think it is supposed to be spread really thick.
That being said, I do love talking to Americans that actually know how to eat it properly.

I hate this "spread it thinly" bullshit that people keep spreading. That's not the only way to have it. If somebody served me Vegemite on toast the way it is in OP's pic, I'm not sure I could even stand to eat it.

A nice even spread all the way across, and quite thickly if there's cheese on top or you have milk on the side. That's true Vegemite indulgence.

best spread tbh
