Heatwave time in all Europe. What do you guys eat for lunch/dinner when it's 40°C in the shadow?
Had gazpacho yesterday, need something new.

Cold pasta salad (or any cold grain or beans based salad)
Fruit smoothies/milkshake with an egg cracked into it

Salads and sandwiches, mostly. Cooking is reserved for night time in the summers. Even preparing cooked-food salads happens only at night (potato salad, pasta salad, rice salad etc) since it's much cooler.

Low carb stuff. Spicy foods. Look at what you would eat in SE Asia. I'm having green papaya salad with coconut chicken.
Good drink to cool down is lime soda with salt.

Sortof related, just bought me a decent blender, and am looking to make some smoothies/milkshakes for me and my guests this weekend.
Never did it before, I bought some fruits I like, what combos would you recommend? The kiwi's are the 'zespri gold' type. I also have white grapes in the freezer, and of course orange juice, random fruit juice, milk & icecream.

Canadian here. I have air conditioning and stay inside during the day. But the few times I do eat in the heat, I try to eat something "cold", like a sandwich. Avoid anything sweet, spicy or too fat. If you can handle it, try to make a meal out of fruits.

The best thing to get to freshen yourself up though is a slushie.

Besides gazpacho (which I make nearly every week during the summer), some of my go-to hot weather foods are:
>Shaved brussel sprout, kale, and radicchio salad with dried cranberries, pumpkin seeds, and poppyseed-lemon vinaigrette
>Vietnamese chicken salad
>Thai beef salad
>salad made with shredded cabbage and romaine lettuce, scallions, shredded carrots, jicama or radish, cilantro, red sweet peppers, a serrano pepper or two, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, avocado, and a ginger-garlic dressing.
>Very spicy foods, like Thai green curry, sichuan dumplings, aguachile, and others
>mexican shrimp cocktail with lots of hot sauce

Our entire infrastructure and dwellings are designed and built around keeping heat in.
It's at a point where if I have the hob on for 10 mins my flat heats up further because the 'resting temperature' is the same as outside.

I feel you OP, pic related, it was yesterday

Today I had bresaola (salted cold beef) with rucola and cream cheese. I'm craving some pizza but I'd preferably kill myself over turning the oven on.

Any oil with a high smoking point, really.

Peanut is the classic, but rapeseed or corn oil are fine, too.
