Hello, /ck/

I am new in America and have never had food delivered to me before.
How much am I supposed to tip the pizza delivery guy?

>> No.6645525

>>6645515
Don't tip. Maybe he'll get a real job.

>> No.6645526

I usually tip about $3, unless I'm ordering like 10 pizzas for a party. If theyre like and hour late nothing usually. Just remember "keep the change." If your order is 11.50 give him 15 or 14 and tell him that.

>> No.6645527

>>6645515
$5 normally, more if it's say, raining hard or snowing heavily or you live 3 miles down a beaten up shitty dirt road.

>> No.6645528

As little or as much as you want. Even nothing at all. The custom is 15-20%

>> No.6645533

Don't tip, offer a blowjob. Most pizza delivery men are perv scum otherwise they wouldn't deliver someone else food in their personal vehicle.

>> No.6645547

>>6645515
15%. 20% if it was above average service.

What is above average service for delivering pizza?
What would average service be?
You would have to actively try to be a shit to fuck up delivering pizza.

>> No.6645703

>>6645693
Above average would be faster than normal service or possibly just having a great attitude.

>> No.6645734

30-45 minutes is average wait time for me.

>> No.6645739

>> No.6645757

>faster than normal service
It's all done with computers, your time of delivery is carfully calculated. If you got your pizza earlier than you expected to the point where you're pleasantly surprised something is wrong.
>just having a great attitude
I wish I got paid extra just for smiling and showing basic communication skills.

>>6645734
Just pick it up. They take less than 15 minutes.

>> No.6645791

>>6645788
They weren't. It was a mom and pop. They cooked it when I got there. Unlike your domino's it was fresh and good.

>> No.6645803

>>6645791
no they were fucking with you. the purpose of ordering pickup in advance is for them to cook it and for it to be ready before you arrive. if they didn't cook it as soon as you placed your order then they're incompetent. and it doesn't take 40 fucking minutes to prep and bake a pizza. all ingredients are pre-prepped. even if they hand tossed the dough it wouldn't take more than 15 minutes. you were fucked with.

>> No.6645817

>>6645803
I'm not autistic enough to actually count the minutes. It just felt like an hour. It was one or two guys in a kitchen for an entire restaurant so it took some time. They might not have started my order since they probably get plenty of no-shows and it was a pretty basic order.

Invite the delivery man inside for a cold drink and talk about your favorite movies. When the timing feels right, run your fingers through his hair.

You can take it from there ;)

>> No.6645891

I usually go for round numbers. Most of my orders are ~$16, so I just give them a $20

>> No.6645906

Yeah, give extra money to the sociable people who can network and aren't going to be stuck in that shitty deadend job forever. Give less money to those who need it.

Mostly because I can undertip and they're probably too bad at math to realize what I've done. Otherwise they wouldn't be delivery drivers.

Enjoy your processed "pepperoni" and preserved "sausage" atop "dough" that likely comes to the restaurant pre sized and rolled.

Sounds to me like you live in the middle of nowhere, boss. I suggest you consider relocating. Not for the pizza obviously, but because it seems to me like you've lived a very boring life.

I live in Asheville, NC. Not the pizza mecca of the world. However we have a couple pizza places that would make you never consider wasting your mother's hard earned money on that shit.

Pepperoni that actually gets crisp in a wood fired oven. Milky, creamy cheese grated onto the pizza that stretches like the chain's pizzas do in commercials (but never do at home). Vegetables that actually taste like something other than mushy, flavorless bell peppers. Crust that is fresh and perfectly cooked in the middle with the perfect amount of char on the surface, sauce that doesn't come from a fucking can, the oddly satisfying feel of the semolina from the counter they rolled your crust out on in each bite.

You're over here talking about Dominos is just as good as any pizza you've ever had... You ought to be ashamed of yourself.

Dominos is Celeste/Totinos/Bagel Bites tier.

I give every delivery guy the same for a large pepperoni pizza: $20. One place wants $19.11 so the guy gets almost no tip. Not my fault they charge too much when the typical runs under $14 to just below 16.

You're literally fucking retarded, congratulations. It's like you don't know that just because you called in, it doesn't mean you're magically guarenteed a 15 minute pickup time. Guess what, while I was taking your order on the phone, 3 soccer moms and a party house ordered 20 pizzas ahead of you, your order won't even hit the oven for another 20 minutes while the backlog of orders are being made.

Delivery times are accurately calculated? Lol, okay sherlock. We tell you it's going to be an hour wait when it's more realistically going to be 45 minutes, but if we say 45 minutes a fair portion of the time we get a call 40 minutes later with someone barking at us asking where their food is. It's almost like delivery also entails having to deal with traffic, weather, stoplights you know, the real world. You're such a fucking alpha saying you'd cancel your order and walk out, your $15 sure is sticking it to the company man!

>> No.6647009

>>6647001
I usually expect a pizza to take an hour to get delivered and order one only if I have no real plans. Trying to sandwich a pizza in to a tight schedule is a bad idea.

>> No.6647229

>>6647001
congratulations on working on a poorly managed shit house. if a restaurant can't properly schedule adequate staff / own enough equipment to ramp up service to meet demand at busy hour then they deserve to get all the cancellations/walk outs they get. also what kind of idiot orders take out from a place outside a 15 minute drive? no one. moron, i'd sooner have it delivered and not tip your ass. that's why you work in as a fast food flunkie, loser.
