When it comes to guacamole, I call that shit extraneous. Salt, lime juice, and cilantro are all you need. You make pico and/or salsa to serve the guacamole as contrasting flavors, but they shouldn't have an overlap of ingredients, with the exception of cilantro. With guacamole, you want to let the avocado shine.

There's a Mexican restaurant chain where I used to live in Texas, that has a green table salsa that's made with green peas. It's damn good. Everyone fucking loves it. Most people don't know it's made with peas, though. I found out from a lady who used to work there. I reverse engineered it and now have my own recipe for it, and make it all the time for parties and bbqs, and everyone fucking loves it. So, basically, don't knock it till you try it. That said, I don't add peas to my actual guacamole. I think guacamole is best when it simple. Avocados, lime, salt, serrano pepper. That's all it needs.
