Me too. Vegan baking can be a challenge though. It's nice to surprise friends with vegan baked goods, and see the surprise in their face when they find out its vegan.

>be a normal, non-vegan person
>bake actually good vegan cakes and biscuits/cookies
>sell them to vegans at ten times the cost
>they're getting hosed, but don't care

I make vegan poundcakes, vegan meringues, vegan choco chip bicky wickies and others. A vegan poundcake, for example, will cost me under $3 to make but I sell them at $2.50 per slice or $20 per cake. And these aren't frosted or anything. You want a decorated cake, that shit's gonna be extra.

It started as a hobby, baking for a Jain vegan friend of mine, but she told a friend of hers about my baking and the friend asked me to bake a cake for some gathering she was having. Word of mouth has spread from there, but I still just bake out of my home.

I've veganized this recipe. I mess around with egg replacers a lot. You can sub in potato flakes instead of eggs, add more oil, use apple sauce, or use the bean brine.

But this brand makes awesome cake mixes, that cater to different allergies.

Oh I guess intentionally eating animals is OK as long as they are small and stupid enough. But eating honey is bad even if bees aren't actually dying to make it.

Such logic.

>> No.6630430

>>6630426
But yeast is just fungi, like mushrooms isn't it? Can they not eat mushrooms either?
I know a few who don't care about honey either as it "helps the bee population" and they only get it from local farms that don't smoke the bees (which can kill them), but then again I do know many vegans who don't eat honey.
I'll never understand vegans.
Cutting back on meat, I get, abstaining from meat because the sight of a crying cow calf makes you tear up I can sort of get.
But honey? Yeast?

I'm a vegan that eats honey. You gotta draw the line somewhere, and I draw that line at insects, so I eat honey and the red #40 or whatever that uses beetle shells.

That being said, Oh She Glows has a great toffee chocolate chunk bar recipe, and I bake both PPK's pumpkin and pecan pie recipes for thanksgiving.

Some vegan baking is actually pretty good. Not all of it. But some. And I like what's good. Don't give a shit if it's vegan or not.
