How do you eat this stuff?

Spoon? Fork? Straw?

What kinds of soup are there out there?

Is it all hot?

Do people eat it all the same way?

Just some things I've been pontificating on lately.

>not being cucumber, heirloom tomato, almond, and basil gazpacho master race

Best soup of the summer, all from the backyard besides almonds. Blanch and peel the tomatoes (I like Cherokee red or brandywine), peel the cucumber, and throw everything in the blender with a little white wine, salt, and pepper. Push through a sieve, chill, and top with toasted almonds and more basil.

>Is it all hot?
no. there's always gazpacho and i'm sure i've seen a "cold avocado soup" recipe in one of my books.
>Spoon? Fork? Straw?
you can eat it whatever way you like but you'd better be retarded or have another valid excuse if you don't use a spoon.
>Do people eat it all the same way?
no idea but i wouldn't be surprised if some cultures drank soup out of the bowls instead of using a spoon.

I used to know this guy
we'd all be like "dude that guy's weird like he's an alien lol"
and then one day he was baffled and starting to get angry at how to open a bag of potato chips and we realized we'd never seen him interact with a bag of chips, and he really didn't know how to open a bag of chips despite being well into adulthood and he had a real job and shit
the alien jokes weren't so funny anymore

>How does one consume consomé, velouté, broth, stew, chowder or soup?
With a spoon. It is acceptable to eat it with bread, either alternating mouthfuls or dunking the bread depending on company. Drinking from the bowl is frowned upon.

>What kind of soups exist?
Everything from hot-stone-soup to pea and ham, Cullen Skink and many other varieties of savoury soups as well as sweeter soups including fruit soups (cold raspberry soup is a traditional Hungarian dish)

>Is it all hot?
Mostly. There are exceptions such as fruit soups and gazpacho - cold tomato and cucumber soup with basil and other complimentary flavours - they are typically served as either a palette cleanser and/or during Summer months to help cool the diner.

>Do people eat it in the same way?
There will always be that one guy who eats a hamburger with a knife and fork. He'd struggle to do something like that with soup, but by god he'd try. Stick to eating with a spoon unless everyone else is doing something different.
When in doubt, ask.

You use a spoon to eat soups.

There are many kinds of soup, almost anything can be turned into a soup.

No, there are cold soups, such as ones made from fruit.

No, some people eat it by itself, others like to dip bread in it and some even crumble crackers into it.

There are rules.

Also, that's a cereal bowl in the OP. A soup bowl has a flat edge where you touch the bottom of the spoon to avoid drips on your shirt front.
