I like it but I fucking hate the SOB stories every fucking contestant has.

ted: why are you here , today?
>well my aunt's gay dog died of aids and i'm here to honor her memory by making a half-assed risotto.

>implying that's not the best part

My favorite one was a dude whose dad was mean to him when he was a kid. He brought it up at every chance he got, and at one point said that "whenever I cook I always my father's voice in my head yelling at me to do better" when he was presenting his entree.

>ted allen sums up
>commercial break for 2 hours
>shows back on
>cut to puff piece about how each chef is from a down trodden city and their parents were murdered, tortured, raped, sent to a concentration camp, forced into being a sex worker, and they want to win the money for them
>another commercial break for 8 hours
>shows back on
>always that one chef who burns something or forgets to put the cap on the blender tight enough
>ted allen and judges go apeshit and yammer on for 9 hours about how that's hurt the chef

This.

At least Cutthroat Kitchen is somewhat entertaining.

>> No.6605916

Once you've watched enough episodes, Chopped becomes the funniest show on television. You start to notice shit like the backstories, or the dramatic stingers and cuts, or the fact that at least one of the chefs is fucking insane and/or some kind of Mad TV character.

Anyone who doesn't like it just isn't watching it right.

The better show

>> No.6605942

>>6605926
They're both fucking amazing. The difference is that Cutthroat Kitchen takes itself less seriously, and a lot of the humor in Chopped comes from how seriously everything is taken. You're laughing with Cutthroat Kitchen, but you're laughing at Chopped.

>> No.6605947

the judges are the worst part of these shows

>box ingredients are jalapenos, gasoline, and chicken breasts
>wahhhhh this is too spicy!!!!!!!

Chopped is OK but Cuthroat Kitchen is a gimmicky piece of shit. Sorry Alton.

I used to love alton brown before that show.

He tries to hard to be this twisted dungeon master and comes off like a total faggot autist.

whatever floats your erotic boat anon.

I dunno. I think it's irritating. he acts like a literal culinary pepe and it's annoying imo and definitely not believable.

He reminds me of a kid tormenting bugs, in a good way. I could see how it could grate, though.

>> No.6606037

Does being homosexual automatically triple your chances of getting selected to be on the show? At the very least every other episode has at least one homosexual contestant and considering their proportion of the population that's extreme over representation.

>> No.6606052

I love when the equipment is broken because it's supposed to add to the tension but it never does. When contestant B's food processor is broken so they need to change their entire dish with 2 minutes left while contestant A is pureeing carrots right next to them, it reflects horribly on the production crew. What a shit show.

>> No.6606780

It's okay, but this show's ace in the hole for drama is always a contestant cutting his hand while chopping some veggies. They cue the dramatic music and half the time, the contestant doesnt even catch it until way later

>> No.6607119

>>6605918

With the speed they're forced to work at I wouldn't go near the mandolin unless it was absolutely necessary.
