I want a loving father, but I know it won't make me a better chef, so I don't know if it counts.

We can all look through catalogues and traipes the isles of Pier 9 ogling the novelty goods and shabby-chic accoutrement, but you'll never find a caring father figure on the third shelf down, isle 13, next to the boston shakers.

I suppose an ice-ball mould in the shape of the classic smiley face would insert at least a modicum of joy into an otherwise morbid existence, but it will never be the key to torment of the soul. Nothing - no matter how cute or how practical - will ever show me how life could have been, if I had had a male role model to have looked up to in my adolescence.

The paring knife is a photography trick to make it look bigger. The focus is on the cutting board, so the target audience (people who buy things because "IT LOOK COOL/CUTE/AWESOME" aka NORMIES/MEMESTERS/LEDDITS) is too unobservant to notice. And likely uses a steak knife to cut everything.

a normal pot would be difficult to keep the oil at the right temperature for the right time without overheating and burning or having cool spots. dutch ovens are great for maintaining heat. plus they're nice because you can use them on the stove or in the oven.

Both, though cast iron more commonly. Dunno how well the electric ones work. Considering the abundance of the 'cake pops' style one, I guess not too well.

I can't really tell you how often you'd use it. The one nice thing it is good for is portion control. It makes calorie dense foods, that are usually only made in big portions, snack sized basically.
I use a cast iron one for breakfast a few times a week. I make little pancake balls with fruit or chocolate in them and take them to work. Still tasty cold and maybe three of them are about all the pancake I feel like eating in one sitting.
For something more savory, like takoyaki, I don't use it that often.

smell from tampons is normal, although it should not smell like fish. fishy smell is sign of bacterial infection, not fungus

I have this one, works well. I use it with a little gas powered burner so i can cook with it at the table.

Funny thing is, i have absolutely no idea where i got it. I bought it on a whim then more or less forgot about it. One day i saw takoyaki mix at the store and decided to pull it out. Takes some practice to turn with chopsticks. The brush thingy is the thing you don't need, just use spray oil.

Overall pretty happy with it despite buying it and not using it for a few years. Pic related, my handiwork. half turned before topping off with batter and then turning completely.
