oh man, I forgot about apple butter.

i'm changing my vote from butter and marmalade to butter and apple butter, but only the fresh stuff from the orchard that you can only get in the fall.

Favorites include:

Soft bread/rolls + bocadito spread (cuban party food)
This is like a cream cheesy deviled ham kicked up with olives or pimentoes. It's slightly sweet, slightly savory, and spread very thinly. Entire sheets of rolls are split open, and spread, then sectioned off for cocktail sized finger sandwiches. Quite addictive as leftovers too. Thank you publix for making this available without a leftover ham roast to make it.

I love cream cheese on toast, with a smear of either hot pepper jam or guava jam. Sometimes I'll put cream cheese on a toasted everything bagel, and slice up a mini cucumber on top with a sprinkle of dill and sea salt.

I like liptauer cheese spread, if I have some pumpernickel or rye to toast. It's a kind of combination of my leftovers hunks within my fridge in the cheese drawer. I grate or throw it all in the food processor, along with onion, garlic, paprika, and whatever my mood.

FAVORITE:pimento cheese. This is a pantry thing, because a jar of pimentos, mayo and some seriously sharp cheddar is ready for weeks, to be at the whim of a craving. Great for breakfast. I

i drink non-alcoholic beer but some regular beers taste better with alcohol, it kind of acts like lemon or vinegar does in a fatty dish, balancing it out.

>> No.6588901

>>6588898
It would. Ever drink pure alcohol? It tastes awful. The fact of the matter is, alcoholic drinks taste good in spite of the alcohol, not because of it. Wine tastes good because of the sugar and the grapes and the tannins, but could be better if it were juice.

The only reason people drink alcohol is to get drunk. If they didn't want to get fucked up, they would drink something that didn't have fucking car fuel in it.

Would you be able to obtain the same flavor profile without having alcohol available as a solvent to bring out those flavors? There is a reason that alcohol is used as a base in making many extracts.

>> No.6588923

>>6588920
When it comes to alcohol soluble flavors, you only need a small amount of alcohol. Just look at vodka sauce: you don't taste the vodka, just the flavors that the vodka brings out of the tomatoes.

I know what I'm talking about; I'm an alcoholic.
