Alright this is gonna be kind of an odd question. No idea if anyone even remembers this shit for reference.

I want to make myself some Coke Blak. It's supposed to be a combination of coke and coffee and I'm not sure of the proportions to use. I imagine I'll need some flat coke for it but maybe just the syrup would work better? Anyone got any ideas?

i remember that shit. it was terrible.

A lot of people hated it. I don't deny that. They stopped making it for a reason.
I think I was the only person that actually liked it.

>> No.6587714

but it was carbonated, what would make you think to use flat coke?

Don't forget the cream. The drink was not actually black.

>> No.6587720

try stirring some instant coffee grounds into some coke
i think adding prepared coffee would water down the coke too much

Was it carbonated? It's been so long I couldn't remember.

It was. I liked it too, OP

Try mixing Coke with Manhattan Special.

>> No.6587759

a little bit of coffee liqueur in a cold glass of coke might be good. wouldn't be enough to cop a buzz, if you're worried about that.

That might work.. I'm more lost about what proportions to use.
I've tried making it in the past with pre-made coffee and some coke but it was hard to mix the two without one flavor overpowering the other, and usually came out tasting pretty odd as a result.

I think I might try this - just using a Bodum or something, then I'll add the cream after I separate the grounds/pour it.

Did you not think about googling "Coke Blak recipe"? There are pages of copycat recipes available.

Nope, you're so unique. You were the only one who liked it and the only one who would ever want it again haha tumblr so original xD

I remember it. It was described as espresso and coke. Try just doing that. You can make espresso the old fashioned way or in a moka pot, or buy it instant granules. Try that italian espresso powder with hot water to dissolve, or any of the Cuban brands like Bustelo. I'd use the water in as little as possible, to keep the fizziness intact when added to the soda. I don't think you need sugar, but if you do, add it to the coffee in the form of simple syrup (in other word, make sure no granular sugar remains when adding to the coke.

I think you can make a bit of "espresso syrup" as a batch thing, and simply store in fridge up to a week in airtight (not much airspace) jar or pitcher. Pour over ice in a glass, where it will cling, and then add your Coke. You could even make espresso ice cubes to add to your Coke. This is all your preference.

I didn't love Blak, and in fact found it hard to finish a 4pack. It was alright if very very ice cold. But, I think there could very well be an affinity for the cinnamon and caramel flavors of Cola with coffee bitterness. Play around with Vanilla Coke, Cherry Coke, and the coke competitors like RC and publix generic. They all vary the ingredients. I bet the chinotto italian coke with the bitter citrus would be awesome! Happy experimenting! Good luck with your memories.

Pepsi Cona was literally this but actually tasted good so not like it at all. I didn't find out until years later that it was just a regional test thing.

Cocktailfag here. You can keep your syrups longer by washing the bottle with hot water and soap, then throwing in a splash of ever clear and shaking to ensure the entire inside of the bottle is coated with it before you put the syrup in the bottle.

Or I just trust /ck/'s judgement on this shit better than random ass housewife recipes?

Just make or get a barista to make a "Dirty Chai". Chai spices are basically the same as cola.

I liked it too.

But I could tell immediately it wasn't gonna stick around.

I'm with you on that sentiment.

I used to do the googling to check on recipes until I was trying to make some baja style fish tacos. The sauce uses crema mexicana as a base, which is what I was trying to figure out.

The recipes I could find called for fucking mayonnaise
