sup /ck/. I'm going to a a friend's place this evening (in like 8 hours), for a bbq/grilling event and game night. They've got all the main dishes covered and I don't need to bring anything, but sorta feel like I should...but I have no idea what to make.

I would love some suggestions for a side dish for what is probably going to just be burgers and beer night. I was sorta thinking just a fruit and veggie tray, but that's pretty plain and if it's not eaten it's going to be sitting out for hours.

Sorry if it wasn't clear. I did ask what I should bring, he said anything I want if I want to bring anything, they've got everything else covered. So I figured I'd bring a small side of some sort.

Jalapeno poppers. You can buy the frozen kind and toss them in the oven for 40mins or so. Some chicken joints make them too but can be expensive since you'll have to buy a few dozen enough to share.

If you're sure food is good, bring a drink or dessert.

You don't have time to do womething fancy so get a box mix or ice cream.

well what do you like? Though omnivore and quite , ok mostly, carnivore, I like many vegtables Don't have to be uniqe or even fresh, for that matter. I like brussel sprrouts, split, sauteed in cheap olive oil and malt vinegar. Or cabbage. Seriously, any time someone says "I have the best" anything, they are blowing smoke, big time Don't fear.. something different that mabe only you know or remember. A older lady used to make this fantastic "pie" - more of a flat pizza (uh oh. sorry, backs out slowly) with cheader, pineapple, ritz or butter crackers , molasses, maybe? and love., maybe. were it me, really pressed for thyme, um time, can't go wrong with watermelon. At the least, people still arguing can spit seeds at each other.

I usually bring sweets/dessert and drinks, so I dont really interfere with whatever the host is serving.

other than that breads, like sausage bread, cheesy bread...
