In the Fall River area of Massachusetts, they have something called a chow mein sandwich.

It's pretty much what you'd think it is, except the chow mein is particular to the area - a specific brand of crispy noodles, specific kind of sauce, etc. And no meat unless you ask for it.

A weird sandwich with a lot of nostalgic appeal for people that grew up with it (consequently its popularity has decreased over time). I drove over to Fall River recently and tried one. The crunchy noodles went well with the squishy bread but I was hankering for some protein.
