That's alright, perhaps next time it can be at your place indeed.
Don't worry about the shoes, your company makes up for any dog shit you may have dragged in.

Wish I could be involved in a potluck :(

How do these things happen? Work parties, a cult, hippie commune? Do you just have to have a large group of friends that has their shit somewhat together? I'm in houston and I am a half ass cook but I would totally go balls to the walls on a dish if I was involved in a potluck with decent people.

>mfw I work with mexicans and looters and have a small circle of friends and their all poor or neets...

This is convenient. I'm going to a company picnic this month and want to make both a sweet and savory dish.

Choux dough is my gimmick but fillings are usually chilled. Would gougeres be a better option? Someone already recommended fried pickles to me. With homemade buttermilk ranch. Any other ideas? I work at a bakery/kitchen so "competition" is brutal.

>> No.6564724

There's a bakery at my corner that makes pot-pie puff pastries. The choux puffs are baked, split, cooled and filled with a thick chicken gravy, bits of chicken and veg and a slice of hard-boiled egg.
They're so good at room temp that I've never considered having them hot.
Make something like that. I doubt any of your coworkers have even considered something like that.

If you bring the flatware, bowls, cups and cutlery, too, all of fair-to-better quality, I wouldn't object.
Shit, even cheaping out on all that stuff would likely be more expensive that what I could whip up for the get-together.

In fact:

Lehtthoke, Burmese noodle salad. Made with:
cooked thin spaghetti
cooked cellophane noodles
raw cucumber
raw carrot
raw shredded cabbage or green papaya
cooked pork or chicken mince
scrambled or boiled egg
Burmese or Chinese tofu (Burmese "tofu" is just chickpea polenta)

Topped with:
shredded nori
roasted, crushed dried chickpeas
roasted, crushed dried prawns
roasted, crushed dried chili
crisp-fried shallots

And a dressing made from:
shallot oil
>mixed toasted and light sesame oils (or peanut oil if light sesame oil is hard to find in your area) is used to caramelise shallots and this oil is used to make the dressing; for sweetness
tamarind sauce
>for acidity
fish sauce
>for saltiness
little bit of tahini
>for creaminess

I estimate that would cost me about... $13. For 25 portions, less than half a buck per serving. Good fucking deal. :-)
Cups and shit for 25 people would probably cost way more than that, right?

Cool!
I made paneer momo for a Nepal relief benefit tonight.
Fried garlic dal, bhat (basmati), alu achar, chicken sekuwa, and a couple tarkari, a chili achar that was sour, and a chili achar that was sweet (mangoes). Tried to make sel roti but failed. Had a bakery make me some roti/chapati.
Was my first foray into Nepalese food.
The Americlaps clapped. Twice. Feel pretty good about it.

I'll bring paneer momo and chicken sekuwa.
They were my favorites.
