My hometown used to be the definition of "the sticks". We had one gas station owned and operated by this shaggy old hippy type who had the same t shirt on every time i saw him, about 5 or 6 miles from the house. On weekends when my dad wasn't working, we'd both hop on our bikes and ride over there and get individually wrapped haagen daaz bars, pretty much the only prepackaged junk food I ever got. I can't even eat them now unless the old man is with me, just doesn't feel right.

I've never felt so cool as I did at when I was 10 years old, kitted out head to toe in denim and playing an arcade game with all my m8s gathered round, a Swizzels Drumstick hanging out of my mouth like a cig and the DJ spinning some B52s or Survivor.
