If you absolutely must Japanese Curry. This brand apparently is the Japanesiest curry that you can curry. Do bear in mind though, that japanese curry is essentially what british curry would be if the britbongs never broke down and begged the Indians to help them fix their god awful corriander-slop.

>overseasoned
That's a word generally reserved for things that have too much salt in them. Perfectly fits Japanese curry. The reason you don't like Indian curries is not because they're over-seasoned but because they have too much flavor. And the word you were looking for is over-spiced but you're too much of a pussy to own up to that.

Op, golden is tasty and kinda has a beef gravy tinge to it, I feel. What I do with it is dredge some chicky chunks in cornstarch or flour, then fry them til golden and crunchy. Make curry with coxonut water and toss with chicken. Then serve with fried rice and and some vaggies. Maybe not the healthiest or most authentic, but damn is it good junk food tier meal.

just so you know you dont have to use beef. i usually go with what meat is on special or on sale when i make it. add an onion also. chop it into triangle slices. about the size and shape of apple slices. i also add eggplant and hot peppers in my curry. i like it so i add it in. remember to brown whatever meat you use before making the curry. a good indicator of when its done is when the onions are melting into the water.
just trust me on this next part its good. after adding in the curry ru (which you should chop into pieces) add ketchup, worchester sauce, and apricot jam. mix one last time and serve over steamed white rice. any questions?

Vermont and Golden are good, but it's super easy to make your own and it won't have that preservative-ey aftertaste.

The roux in this recipe is a great place to start:
