It's a restaurant owned by Jimmy Buffet's sister, my family insisted we go there for lunch while we were seeing family down there, it was so fucking disappointing.
It was like $20 for ten medium-sized fried shrimp and a basket full of french fries, unbelievable.

During those shifts, I've NEVER had any staff member be anything less than the friendliest person I've met that day. Waffle House is one of the few places I actually tip, because the people there deserve it. It actually feels like you're in a 50's diner or something.

The first place that comes to mind is this locally owned chinese restaurant that everyone in my shithole flyover college town raves about having "the best chinese food." I went there once, ordered Szechuan Chicken, and when it arrived, it was just some hideous looking chicken with the consistency of dog food covered in a black sauce. My friend ordered the "Hunan Chicken" which looked exactly the same.

I took a couple of bites, and it wasn't remotely spicy. There wasn't a single pepper in the dish. I flag down my waiter (who was very courteous) and told him this wasn't what I ordered. He takes it back, apologizes, and then about five minutes later the owner/manager of the restaurant busts out of the kitchen with my plate of food and starts yelling at me, holding the plate directly in front of my face, telling me this IS what I ordered. I told her it did not taste anything like what I was expecting, and I just didn't like it. She said it was "my own fault for not knowing what I want" and then kept demanding I pay for it. My friend then spoke up and told her to just fuck off already so he could finish his meal and get out of that shithole restaurant. They took my dish off the tab, my friend paid for his food, and I left the waiter $5 for at least keeping his cool in front of me even if I did frustrate him as well.

And from what I have noticed, absolutely everything they serve is covered in that same disgusting black sauce. It's terrible how this place is considered "great chinese food" in my area.

We have a place near my house called Foxes. Used to be a wonderful steakhouse in the middle of the desert. I always got a nice roast lamb shank with a beautiful dark sauce.

Then they took the tortilla chips and freshly mortared salsa away
Then they closed off 2/3 of the dining room
Then they had only one waitress at any given time.
The last time I would ever go there was right after graduation and they've only gone down hill since then. Sad to see a place that was doing so much business ruined just because of a new owner.

This fancy as furk steak restaurant my parents took me to as a present for graduating college. I'm a big eater and I am not picky by any means. I got the dry aged steak horseshit by urging of my parents and the waiter saying it is the epitome of high-end steak dining. My dad's a big Chinese takeout fan, so whenever he moves to a new area he tries all the local places until he finds the one he likes the most. With this last move, he told me he found a place his neighbors said was the all-time best. When he got it, their food was rotten.

Just a couple weeks ago, I was out of town with the rest of my family. We went to some chain called "Extreme Pizza" and got a supreme-esque pizza and one with chicken and bacon or something. It was barely edible - I couldn't taste the cheese, and I swear the chicken wasn't even fully cooked. I had to drench it in chili flakes and ranch (which they served with it for some reason?) to get any semblance of flavor. What the hell is with all this "food poisoning"?
Are you sure the food there is that bad or are you sure y'all arent pretentious little faggots who can't hold down food?
Don't get me wrong, maybe these places are crap and dont deserve a second chance but shit anons, y'all sound like femenists whining over rape. Food poisoning here, food poisoning there.
Those businesses are still open and so must have customers who DONT get food poisoning.
Maybe the problem isn't so much the food but you.

having a stomach ache and food poisoning are two different things. If you get a stomach ache it hurts for a bit and you'll either shit it out or vomit, then you'll be fine. Food poisoning is a completely different animal. You will be vomiting and shitting every 15 minutes until you run out of fluid, and then your body will continue to convulse and dry-heave; taking down water will result in more vomit. It can last for a day or two as well, and the rest of your week of recovery will be miserable

Based off of your post, I hope you get the latter very soon.

I can't remember the name of it but there's an indian restaraunt near my getaway house out in the country
>find what looks to be a grub in one of the meals
>call the waitress
>she's white and seems pretty appalled
>goes and gets the owner
>lanky indian man comes out and says it's an uncooked grain of rice
>it has a fucking head
>he assures me that it's fine
>doesn't even offer a discount or to get us another serve
>waitress lingers and mentions how she doesn't think its right and how there's been problems before
>me and my group realize why the restaurant is so empty
>leave without paying

I also found a grub in a Nandos burger once, but only one half of it.
Evidently I had already bitten into the other half.
Difference was that the manager was all over my dick when he found out and gave me a $50 gift card on-top of waving the bill.

>Wendy's
When I was 14 or so my dad took me and my siblings to Wendy's. I got a "spicy" chicken sandwich and Dad got the new boneless wings, the Asian ones specifically. We sat in to eat. My food was okay, no chain does spicy chicken right. But Dad's...

When he opened the box he immediately let out an involuntary "Oh!" I took a look and nearly gagged. Those were not chicken wings. Looked more like balls of viscera in the general color of wings, and they stank of fucking rubbing alcohol.

Being the jackasses we were, my dad said he'd pay me five bucks to eat one. I grabbed one and popped it in my mouth. It was chewy, tasted like rubbing alcohol smells and was PACKED with ligament. Easily the worst thing I've ever had the displeasure of eating in my life.

Even worse, my usually pretty aggressive dad didn't any kind of Hell. He just tossed 'em and we went elsewhere for his food. Whatever sociopath gave us that box of suffering got away with it completely.

>Only in sofar as every idea is subjective.
So let's take that logic further:
>diagnosed with other mental issues

What constitutes a "mental issue". What constitutes sanity, and what constitutes the way one ought to be? Until these ideas, if they exist, are generated within your own head or taken from others. There is no in between, and as such, they're subject to fault. Anon, it's been a mere 65 or so years since psychiatry was little above medieval quackery. A Nobel prize was being given out for pioneering the lobotomy, and hospital staff everywhere were roaming about with their leucotome and mallet, eager to fix the problem. And they did. If you can call that a fix. Then we had the days of thorazine and other crude antipsychotics. It's just funny, how quickly people forget. People used to be very distrusting of physicians, not look at society. Wrapped around their little fingers.

Either way, I think things are much better viewed in strictly functional terms. We can throw all that out. Get rid of of subjective ideas about how things should be. When it comes down to it, who cares? People will do what they do, and no amount of straight camp or whatever the big thing these days is, is gonna change that. The media will continue to warp people. Culture will continue to exert its effect, as will social feedback loops. It doesn't even matter, and we're overpopulated to begin with.

The only thing I have a problem with, is the trans thing. Mainly because I see a clustering of ideas and philosophical standpoints that just don't make shit for sense to me. Probably because they don't make shit for sense. But it's difficult to ascertain what makes us what we are, nor what to do with it. I'm really goddamn sick of seeing and hearing about this trivial bullshit as though it makes half a difference. Enough already. Can you point to even one indication your idea of "helping" these people isn't itself highly destructive?

I'm never eating in a mall cafeteria again. I used to go back in the day because it was convenient and cheap. I went to some random generic mall chinese food place, got noodles + chicken and fish dishes, with a small drink it came out to fucking $13. That much for mall food? Are you shitting me? Not too many years ago the same food was for like $8. Now they give me bullshit excuses how food prices have gone up.

>> No.6531159

>>6529921
It's $4 per day, not per hour.

While there is a federal minimum wage (7.25/hr), certain states and cities have enacted higher minimum wages than federal.
It is, however, legal to pay restaurant servers less than the minimum wage because even the federal government expects that they be tipped. Earning $2.75 an hour, a server must report earned tips to at least the minimum wage when filing their taxes. If this server earns cash tips, he or she likely does not claim these when filing taxes, as usually servers working for $2.75+tips make a little more than minimum wage. That's illegal, but it's mostly what happens.
So in some establishments, when you don't tip your server, you are ensuring that while waiting on your table, he or she was earning nearly a third minimum wage.

>> No.6531162

>>6531159
To add, I forgot, if the server earns fewer tips in a given year than would add up to an average hourly wage or the minimum along with the $2.75 hourly, the business owner must then pay the server to match up to minimum wage. This also rarely happens.

There really is none. However, there is a specific restaurant of a chain I probably will never go to again
>quite some time ago
>Hans im Glück (burger store) opens in my city
>go there with friends a week after opening
>service personnel doesn't seem to have a clue how to work their tablets to take our orders (but they were Dell tablets so I was cool)
>waitress leaves
>nobody comes to check on us for 20 minutes
>see woman in translucent top and short skirt outside, talking do some random passerby
>turns out this was the store manager's wife and the passerby was a friend of hers
>she just goes away with him
>we and quite a lot of other tables are still waiting for service
>finally waitress comes
>with our food and beer
>some of us ordered cocktails
>"They'll be finished in just a minute, enjoy your meal"
>food was great
>waitress returns after we had finished our meal
>with the cocktails
>"Here you go guys let me take your plates"

First and last time (yet) I went to that place. Heard from pretty much every single person who went there that their service is utter shit but their food is just too good. Friend of mine told me that they gave a friend of her's a salad with finely chopped onions after she had explicitly stated, three times, that she was allergic to onions. Didn't end too well, the manager's wife didn't even want to recompensate the meal.

It's useful to think of corporations as a kind of AI/autonomous entity with money as the largest term of their utility functions. That is, increasing profits as much as possible is the primary goal. This applies most particularly to publically traded companies, because the stock market is built around the principle that businesses make money for the people that own them. It's not really that McDonald's "can" spare $5, but rather that every fiber of its being screams at it to do nothing of the sort.

I'm not saying this is necessarily a bad or good thing, it's just helpful for answering those pesky questions of why corporations don't give any more of a shit about their employees than they're obligated to in order to make more money. It'd take a pretty big paradigm shift for unskilled workers to be paid enough to live comfortably. One possibility might be more nonprofit companies, which under this model would have something other than money as the primary term of its utility function.

At something like 85% of McDonald's locations, the employees aren't even being paid by McD's corporate; it's the franchisee.

Employees are the single greatest expenditure of nearly every business. for any company operating on razor-thin margins (like low-end foodservice), a 50%+ increase in payroll costs would completely destroy any hope of profitability without huge price increases, which would be a death sentence for McDick's.

KFC. Simply the worst chicken of any fast food place I've ever eaten. Even fucking Dairy Queen has better chicken. The real nail in the coffin was when a Popeye's opened up nearby.

This is more local, but the Gustav's in Vancouver, WA was also quite possibly the single worst restaurant experience I've ever had, and I say that as someone who eats out way the fuck more than he should. Horrible service, 90 fucking minutes between ordering our food and getting our appetizers, ridiculously overpriced for the portion sizes, and none of the five people in my party actually enjoyed anything they ordered. But if you're really that concerned about the plight of those on the bottom rung of the career ladder, perhaps you should look at solutions that might actually help them. Single-payer health care would go a lot further than wage inflation, for one.

There was a place called "The Works" that opened in my city last year, I think it was a franchise from Ontario.

Went there twice. First time was alright, but the second time we did not have our orders taken for half an hour, and then it was almost two hours before our appetizers came, and then another hour for the food.

I'd like to take this time to point out that "The Works" is not fine dining, it's a sit down burger restaurant whose gimmick is like 90 types of burgers on the menu. We waited over two hours for some burgers. The only reason we did not leave is because I had money down that they actually forgot about us, like our waitress went home and did not pass on our order. But nope, the food came, just ages after we ordered it.

When I came home from working across country this fall and found out the restaurant had gone out of business, I could hardly say I was surprised.

Once I stopped at this "restaurant" called The Buffalo Stop with some of my family. The place looked a bit dodgy, but there was a family with 2 kids dining out on the front so we thought the food would be at least edible. The first thing we saw walking inside was a sign that proclaimed "If you don't like the food, then your standards are too high." This was the first warning sign. At the counter was this 60something woman with saggy tits wearing a man's T-shirt. She asked me if I wanted the chicken in my sandwich shredded or sliced. When I replied that I wanted it shredded, she wrote "SHE-" on the slip before pausing to cross it out and replace it with "pulled." I guess she didn't know how to spell shredded. Upon sitting at the table, we noticed the tablecloth was dirty and covered in dead insects. There were also a couple of mosquitoes floating about the area. The group of people sitting at the table next to us cheerfully advised us to spill pepper on the table to ward them off. They must have been regulars. When I got the food, I noticed there was a small dead bug lodged in the underside of the provided plastic fork. The sandwich wasn't too horrifying though, and we all ate our meals without repercussions.

Afterwards we visited the target of our roadtrip, the Walker Lake. It stank heavily of dead fish. Reason being that the dumbfucks who operate things apparently keep dumping fish into the lake despite it being too salty for them to live. Something about it drying up or whatnot.

Picture taken from their facebook page. I didn't even know they had a facebook page.

Quite the contrary, actually. Not supporting some idiotic handout demanded by service sector wage slaves doesn't make me a republicunt, you know.

An exorbitant minimum wage does nothing to solve the income inequality problem in the long term. Such a change would affect such a large segment of the economy that it would ultimately just speed up inflation, reducing the purchasing power of the people who made a little more than the new minimum and didn't see the same increases that minimum wage earners got.

Many of the people making minimum wage now would find their hours cut back while every expense they have starts to skyrocket. The vast, vast majority would find themselves in about the same circumstances or worse. The market for under-the-table, less-than-minimum-wage labor would increase, but that situation would also become almost unlivable.

Protip: No economic policy is going to fix things in the US without taking a lot more from the country's top wealth hoarders. And no, owners of minimum wage businesses aren't in that group. Unfortunately, I don't think we have a shot at real reform until most of the boomers die off.

I know that doesn't make sense to you because you dropped out of elementary school to go to church school full-time and fuck your mother for tendies points, but bear with me here, that's 20 points of variation and I'm sure I left a lot off, and that's a hell of a lot of difference when many French mother sauces have only one or two points of variation.

Pancho's in Kansas City

I made the mistake of getting some on the way home, hammered as Hell and hungry as fuck.

I woke up screaming in the middle of the morning and sprinted to the toilet, wrenching my pants down and clutching the sides of the bowl in a death grip.

I think I might've shat out a kidney, or something, because I couldn't even eat for about two days I was so fucking sick.

I work as a waiter and average around $100 a day when it doesn't get very busy, my paychecks tend to be around $20.

That's a lot more net gain than I got as a fry cook/dishwasher, especially given that I'll usually make off with >$80 for just 4 hours of work, more if it gets busy.

I was SO fucking disappointed my first time at an IHOP when I ordered Blueberry pancakes. I can make them easily enough on my own. THIS IS SUPPOSED THE BOE THE INTERNATIONAL FUCKING HOUSE OF PANCAKES and they can't even give me pancakes with blueberries in them? Same with chocolate chips. The next time I went I ordered fucking CHOCOLATE CHIP PANCAKES and got the same fucking shit, chocolate on he top.

You're a fucking pancake house, you have ONE FUCKING job.

Fuck that place forever.

I have a buddy that used to go there a lot, he said the food quality took a dive because they had to fire the old cook, but I've never been there myself. If you haven't yet you should look into the general store in Anamosa, decent food and you can eat overlooking the Wapsi. Also, if your into the whole folk/country music scene they usually have some locals playing on the weekends.

please be trolling? just because a lot of things are overpriced does not mean that substantial differences between quality can exist, you just haven't ever had an outstanding steak before. a high quality dry aged filet is a completely different experience from any other steak, the marbled fat will turn completely liquid like when you're eating a french duck, it will plop in your mouth like when you're eating caviar. the texture is different, too.

Theres this place called Marco's PIzza here in minnesota, they make the best pizza i've ever had, but holy fuck man.

>Last day in town
>Order extra large pepperoni and green pepper, wings, and some soda
>They say it'll be a half hour
>Hour later food arrives
>Large pizza with wing's and no soda
>Delivery boy checks hte receipt and realizes her made a mistake
>Asks if i'll call his manager so he wont get yelled at
>Call his manager
>Yeah, hey, I ordered an extra large, two sodas, and some wings, and I got a large, wings, and no sodas, whats the deal?"
>"Well, like, what do you want ME to do about it?"
>"Well, tell what went wrong, wheres my full order?"
>"Tch, you got what you ordered, don't be lyin' to me."
>Bring up receipt that was sent to my email
>She gets pissed when she finds out i'm right
>"I guess i'll have your sodas sent out"
>"What about the pizza I ordered? Wheres my extra large?"
>"The coupon code you used doesn't apply to extra large"
>Check
>Shes right
>"When can I expect my sodas?"
>"I dunno, five minutes"
>Half hour later guy comes back with sodas

Their food is amazing, but that bitch is out of her mind. Probably would've raised hell if I was eating at the place instead of getting it delivered.

I'm in Taiwan. Pretty much any "foreign cuisine" place here is garbage. They charge 5X what the local places do, serve skimpy portions, and it's usually badly made bland crap that is 90% starch.

Late night at work, the only place open was an "Italian" place. They wanted to charge me US$2 for a glass of tap water, and they acted like complete assholes when all I got was a single overpriced pasta dish. It was about as bad as a can of Spaghetti-O's, and IIRC it had exactly one fragment of sausage in it.

I really don't know why the Taiwanese put up with this shit. Just because it's "foreign cuisine" doesn't make it worth even a tenth of what they're paying for it.

I noticed that. Taiwanese are crazy about western food but idk of any of it is actually good. I did go to a stone-oven pizza place in Kaohsiung though that was pretty awesome, like 120 ntd for most pizzas and they went heavy on cheese and toppings. Give it a try if you're ever around the Lotus Pond (dragon and tiger pagodas)

Don't get me wrong. The food is pretty good, but they did not fulfill their end of the deal on endless French fries.
They gave me four refills then called it quits, now I wouldn't be complaining if they actually gave me pretty good portions but the fry portions here were fucking shit.
The kind of shit you'd get if you were ordering a small at BK or some shit.

Here in California, hell yeah they do. Maybe in Flyover Fuckistan you can make a profit at something under $10/hr, but minimum wage here isn't worth shit.

If a business cannot afford to stay open without paying something reasonable, then that business is a violation of tax-payer dollars and business ethics, and it deserves to be replaced by a better one.

The thing is people are scraping at that $15 an hour through social programs so the real choice isn't between a minimum wage and no minimum wage, it's between government control with corporate skimming of programs or putting money in peoples' pockets to manage themselves.
