We have a horseburger place here called Hot Horse. Aside from burgers, they also offer tortillas, calf steaks, horse sausages, etc. It's high quality meat too, and it's incredibly delicious.

Spain here. We eat geegees too. Not as much as before. Tastes like beef but a little different.

>> No.6526502

Tastes very much like beef. I doubt you'd be able to tell the difference if you didn't know to look for it. There's some difference in texture: in my experience horse tenderloin is much more tender than the beef equivalent. Best filet mignon I ever had was from a horse. I can't account for other cuts, I would imagine some may be tougher and some softer in comparison.

Its flavor is stronger than beef, but not to the point of venison though.
Filets are smoother in taste, while entrecotes (rib steaks) are stronger.
There was a time when my country had the biggest hippophages rate per capita. Just after WW2 horse was cheaper than beef. Today it's balanced.

But hippophagy tends to slowly disappear.
In my young years I used to eat horse 2 times a month.
Right now it's been, I think, 3 years since my last horse steak. Not because of any law or dumb anti-hippophagists, but simply... well idk why.

You teased me with that thread, OP.
Now I'm gonna try to find horse for saturday.

That place on Trubarjeva was (or rather still is) kind of shitty and had poor quality meat. They offered horseburgers for a while but no one really wanted them, because they tasted like crap.
I think they recently added horses back on their menu again though, but HotHorse is so popular now no one will get it from them.

Ýou must have had bad quality.
I get mine from a local horse butcher and it's divine, maybe not as fatty as beef but still very tender.
It's a little cheaper than quality beef too
