What's the point of fruit-flavored candy?
Why not just have the actual fruit instead?

>> No.6519105

Fruit candy doesnt taste exactly the same as fruit.

Nicely shopped hips

"What's the point of maple bacon? Why not just eat maple syrup?"

It's called "complementing", you uncultured pleb.

>> No.6519377

what?

how is complimenting literal sugar with artificial fruit flavours the same as maple bacon?

>> No.6519411

>>6519377
It's not on the same culinary level, but it's still complementing one thing with another. Just like teriyaki jerky, cool ranch Doritos, and coconut shrimp.

I'm thinking of building an application that can sample all posts on a board over a period of time.

There will be raw time based view. A traditional thread based one. And one that displays trees of posts that are linked together. It would also grab and cache full versions of images in addition to their thumbnail.

I would then review all of /ck/'s posts over a month and see if there is any predictable correlation between time and some of the dumber posts.

If there actually was some sort of clear signal to separate from all the noise, and it didn't depend on my own presence, I could choose when to interact with any given board based on when the posts will likely be perceived as the most high quality.

It would take all the unpredictability and spontaneity out of life though. At that point I'd probably just not visit 4chan at all. But it would be interesting.

Is that a compliment or an elaborate insult? I've got to say, I answered a question that obviously didn't have a simple answer, and I think it's the only right answer. People want the best of two worlds.

>> No.6519473

>>6519460
It's a vague and indirect insult, not really intended to have any real force. Everything is actually completely genuine though, I am considering making this thing.

I didn't see you as really answering the question. It seemed more like an inadequate comparison that didn't quite come together in a way that I thought was sensible.

Who /blacklicorice / here?

For some reason, I got a hankering for it, so I bought a small bag full of black licorice cats. Ate two and didn't like them. Is black licorice an acquired taste or will I dislike it forever?

Fair enough, but I stand by my post. Obviously when you think of "complementing" you don't think of fruit flavored candy, but I see no other explanation. People like lemon flavored starbursts and sour apple hard candy (can't remember the name, please help me out). Those fruit flavored candies might not even taste like the actual fruit as advertised, but most of us aren't looking forward to peelings and sticky fingers, we just want an easy snack with a familiar taste.

i fucking love licorice/aniseed candy. if i see a form of black licorice candy i haven't eaten before, no questions asked, i get a wad of it.

my favorite sweet, ever, period, is black licorice candies of some sort, combined with hot tamale cinnamon candies. cinnamon and licorice. the most elegant and refined flavor ever to grace a human palate. good and plenties or black licorice jelly beans/ gum drops are best with the hot tamales. but many other combos are possib;e.

Well, I do see what you're saying though, on one hand. I'm more apt to just reject the initial question than try to answer within its logic.

Candy based around or loosely compared to fruit isn't really intended as a substitute or even an imitation, it's more of a new original inspired from something else. I think of it as more of a derivative in a sense, but it's distinctly apart, even if all it actually is are dyes, sugar, and artificial flavors (not something I see as too creative.) Saying "why don't you just eat fruit" doesn't make sense from the getgo.

Had my first histamine / heat intolerance event to welcome me to another shit year. I just woke up and feel slightly brain damaged at best, I apologize for any hostility.

Aniseed, is that what gives black licorice it's flavor?

I remember hiking with my dad and him showing me some type of plant/ brush that tasted like black licorice. We'd grab a few strands and chew it while walking.

No, none hostility detected or offense taken. I just felt I needed to justify my answer. But you're right, questions like this are hypotheticals at best.
